Chapter 12

Voids POV I wanted them all dead. They have lost their privilege of breathing. The sickly green fog that I let loose towards the group with the guns was that of an ancient plague from a different realm all together. Pest helped me bring it forward in me to disperse and I just knew that the outcome would be glorious. The bloodthirstiness was somewhat new to me, well, the being able to release it and not get the death sentence was new to me. “I am looking forward to your reaction to the Vishlan Plague. It is an old one, from the Fae Realm. It slowly kills the Fae it infects, but for humans with much shorter life spans and pathetic immune systems, it will be quick and excruciating. But oh, so worth the acrid fear stench they will emanate. Enjoy, little brother.” Pest gives me the run down about what’s going to happen in just seconds. The screams start with the first touch of the fog. It felt awe-inspiring. I wondered if it were possible to create my own virus or plague? “Dangerous thought process little brother, best to leave that be. Especially since you and your siblings are still considered ‘newborns’ in our world.” Pest gently breaks the news that I don’t get to play mad scientist just yet. Maybe someday. The screams finally pierce through my thought process, and I tune into what’s going on around me. The humans in the back tried to run but it was too late. The fog had reached them and left them incapacitated and writhing on the ground in agony. The one’s in the front, however, were already dead. Succumbed to the effects of the plague. Fantastic. I felt myself smiling as they all fell into the depths of hell called the Vishlan Plague. I almost felt manic and that stopped me in my tracks. I looked to my sisters in wide eyed fear and they each gave me a nod of encouragement. Ok, good, I was in fact, not falling down the rabbit hole of psycho, as my sister Hemy would say. She falls down that hole several times a year and we are the only people in the world who have ever been able to pull her out. Once all of the bad guys were dead, we looked to who were assumed was some form of leader, Hill. He had no patches or stars or bars on his uniform but that didn’t mean anything. Being in the Army gave me a new perception in life. There are always people who will try and deceive you, it’s up to you whether or not to accept the deception or call out their bull s**t. I don’t accept bullshit in my life anymore. I opened my mouth to say something that would probably get me reprimanded at home by mommy and daddy but alas, my sister Emm beat me to it. “So, you wanna try telling us the truth this time or are you gonna keep pussyfootin’ around and set a new record for stupidest dumbass who can’t lie worth s**t?” Damn, she, like me, does not mince words. I don’t blame her; we really need to find Hemy and get the f**k out of here. He chooses dumbass when he opens his mouth. “I don’t know what you mean. This is just a military hospital.” He tried for the blank faced look. He almost looks constipated. We all shake our heads in disbelief. Does this guy seriously think he can get one over on us? Do they really think that they are smarter than us? How truly sad and pathetic. And with that thought, Artemis melts his brain from the amount of pressure she pushes into him with a small smirk that kinda concerns me. Over the next hour or so, still no sign of a clock or a calendar, my siblings and I, as well as the 2 staff members my sister Artemis had scared into compliance, moved the bodies into an empty room. As soon as we were done, we went in search of our eldest sister, and we sort of found her. Behind a secured door. With a fingerprint scanner, a retina scanner and a number and lettered passcode. f**k my life. I checked in with Pest and he said that none of them had the ability to get in there. There was some kind of reinforcement around the door and even on the walls next to the door. None of them knew what to make of it. We all went back to the nurses’ station to grill the staff there, but when we rounded the corner, they were no where to be found. I felt Artemis stiffen in anger at being disobeyed and almost felt sorry for those 2. They wouldn’t get far. Right on cue I felt her expand her mental ability to search them out, Pest whispered that we would soon learn how to do that too, so cool. She smiled a predatory smile, she found them. I then heard screams coming from the floor above us, we all looked up. Heh, no one f***s with us and gets away with it, not anymore that is. Before our new life, we probably would all have been given the death penalty if we had actually exacted our revenge like we wanted to. Did we go behind peoples’ backs and been petty and vindictive to get s**t done? Yes. Did we pay off some people to look the other way, let things go missing, or ‘forget things’? Also yes. Do we care? No, you f****d with our family, we f**k up your life. It's as simple as that. As the screams quieted as those 2 died in whatever way Artemis deemed, we kept walking. I then noticed that a nurse’s badge was left on the desk. Hmm, let’s see where this goes shall we? I swiped it up and looked around. That’s when I noticed a door behind the desk with a badge swipe access pad. I pressed the badge to the pad and the light turned green, cool. What’s in here I wonder…. Oh… My… Land of Food!! There were literally 3 industrial sized refrigerators in here on the back wall, full up with fresh foods and I saw that there was a stove, oven, and microwave to the left, and pots and pans hanging above the food prep area next to the stove. I also saw bins of snacks and an open pantry on the right-side wall. I whooped and thrust both my hands in the air in happiness. My sisters were standing behind me and made their own sounds of excitement and happiness. I looked around and saw a cinderblock sitting near the door and placed it in front of the door to keep it open. My sisters gave me a funny look. “In case they cancel the badge, and we can’t get back in.” I explain. They all nod their heads and all of us converge on the fridges. We all open the doors and take stock of what we have. We were all starving at this point. Pest was explaining how now that we were supernatural, we burned more calories and would need to eat large quantities of food in order to keep up our energy and not die of malnutrition. Though I could feel his hands do the air quotes when he said die of malnutrition. As immortals we couldn’t technically die per se. I clapped my hands to gain everyone’s attention and focus myself. “Time to make food, who wants prep, who wants stove/oven, who wants to look up the recipe in the book over there on the table, and who wants to take stock of the refrigerators and pantry?” I say with confidence. I liked cooking, it was cleaning I didn’t like but did out of necessity. Time to get to work.
