I walk around Hamilships body, noting that its contorted in odd angles; meh, not my problem, and into the hallway. I was in the last room in the hallway, closest to the big windows overlooking a parking lot surrounded by barbed and razor wire. Lovely. I go to the room directly across from me, noting the 6 dead bodies in here as well. I hear the shower running and decide to knock so I don’t spook which ever sister is in here. “Knock, knock, who’s here?” I ask raising my voice enough for them to hear me. The shower turns off and I hear a giggle.
“You’re so silly Void, it’s me, Zephirah. I’ll be out in just a second, I still need to get dressed and put my hair in a towel.” Zeph states happily.
“Ok, meet me in the hall, I’m going to check on the others.” I say as I walk out. Knowing if she needed me for whatever reason, she’d have let me know. I walk back out towards the room that is next to mine and see even more dead bodies, 5 to be exact. Geeze, looks like I’m not the only one that had problems. “Yo, who goes there? Anyone home?” I ask jovially.
“You’re a weirdo Void, It’s just me in here.” Artemis says as she walks out of the bathroom brushing her hair. “You have problems with the staff in this place too?” she asks in a knowing voice. I give her a quizzical look. How did she know that? “Turns out, one of our abilities is telepathy. I listened in to your chat with Hamilship. I relayed the message to the others. Except Hemy, I can’t get through yet. I think she’s still out.” She explains with 1 hand on her left hip and the other waving around her brush. Huh. That’ll come in handy when we get the f**k out of here. “Yes, it will.” Artemis states with a wry grin as she walks back into the bathroom. I huff out a laugh and walk back into the hallway, headed across from her to the room Emm is most likely staying in. Yep, 7 bodies in here. Damn, what powers does Emm have that got her to do that?
“Emm, it’s me, where you at?” I ask from the doorway.
“In the shower! Be right out. Oh, hey, can you see if there are sweats or something in the drawers? I forgot to look when I came in here to shower and stuff!” She hollers.
“Sure, be right there.” I assure her. As I walk into the room it occurs to me that I am still in my cloth medical dress and no underwear. I also need a shower but I doubt they have any of the product I would need as a black man. I dig in the 3-drawer dresser looking for something. Ah Ha! I found sweat pants and a shirt. No undies for her though. Oh, well. Beggars can’t be choosers. I take the clothes back to the bathroom, knock once and then open the door just enough to get my hand with the clothing through. “They didn’t have undies, sorry.” I say apologetically.
“It’s cool, I wasn’t expecting them to be honest. Thanks Void.” She replies. She takes the clothes and shuts the door. I walk back out, avoiding the multiple bodies on the floor, and go back to my room. I walk over to my own dresser and pull out pants and a shirt, still no underwear. Gross, commando. I walk into my bathroom and strip, placing my clean clothes on the counter and look in the shower. Oh, they have brands that I use. How considerate of my captors, I think sarcastically, insert eye-roll here. I notice my reflection in the mirror above the sink and gasp. My skin is clear, the same shade of milk chocolate as before the accident, but everything else. Wow, My eyes are a bright hazel with a deep emerald green around my iris, my hair is dark green at the roots, like a forrest moss after a rainstorm but fades into a pretty light mint green at the ends. Cool, I like this new look. I hop in and get my s**t done. We need to find Hemy.
“I have located Hemy, she is in the 1st room on the opposite corridor. On the other side of the nurse’s station. She isn’t awake yet, but I did hear the staff thinking about her.” Artemis says in my mind. I jump and almost slip and fall she startles me so bad.
“Don’t do that! I almost fell over! I already have Pest that does that, no need for you as well!” I think back to her. I hear a chuckle and then I feel her leave my mind. Interesting, we will have to see what else we can do.
