(William's POV)
The hospital corridor felt like it was closing in on me. The white walls, the constant bustle of nurses, the sterile smell of herbs and antiseptics—it was too much. I could still hear Alex vomiting blood from earlier in my head. That sound was going to haunt me for a long time.
The pack healer’s words echoed in my ears. “His condition is critical but stable. The combination of the dissolving mate bond and his foolish challenge to Marcus Black has taken a severe toll.”
Severe toll? That was an understatement.
