The restaurant exuded a quiet kind of elegance. The dim lighting paired with the soft hum of classical piano music created an intimate atmosphere, but try as I might to relax, I was on edge from the moment we sat down.
Marcus seemed perfectly at ease. Of course, he did. Seated across from me, dressed immaculately as always, he looked every bit the composed and confident future Alpha King.
For me? The calm was a facade. Underneath, I was wound tight, nervously running over Hazel’s advice in my head.
I had a plan, though. I’d make him notice me. Play to his protective instincts. Show him I could be vulnerable. Let him help me.
