(Aurora's POV)
The tension in the room was suffocating. The air around Alex felt charged, almost dangerous, as I stood my ground. Everything about this moment felt surreal, like an out-of-body experience. What I was about to do would change everything. It felt like stepping off a cliff, not knowing if I would land or shatter.
“I’m here to formally initiate our mate bond dissolution,” I said, my voice just loud enough to carry. I willed it to remain steady, even as my hands trembled slightly at my sides.
At those words, Alex looked up sharply, his gray eyes narrowing. His disbelief was evident, his brows furrowing as if he couldn’t quite process what I had just said. He leaned back in his chair, scoffing loudly.
