The morning sunlight bathed the room in a golden hue, but there was no sunny warmth in me. My thoughts were focused entirely on how Marcus had handled the council meeting so masterfully.
"Storm Pack's heir's actions reflect on no one but himself," Marcus had stated to the council, his calm authority somehow sharper than any accusations. His golden eyes pierced each elder, daring anyone to look away. "Aurora's decision to accept our protection preceded this unfortunate incident."
