Elena’s POV
“I’m almost certain it was Catherine,” Rowena said sternly. “She’s the only girl I know who acts that way toward Jax.” My forehead creased at this. What right did she have to treat Jax like that in front of me?
“She was supposed to be the new Luna and Jax’s first mate,” Rowena added, making me feel even worse.
I knew one of the worst feelings was becoming “second” in someone’s life. I wasn’t his first love, and how had I never considered that?
It didn’t help that Catherine acted the way she did. It only made me feel more insecure.
Was that why they asked me to leave? Was my presence interfering with their story?
I swallowed the lump in my throat before looking up. “What happened between them?” I tried to sound indifferent, but my shaky voice betrayed me.
