Elena’s POV
my entire body ached. I felt like any movement would cause me to fall apart. I tried not to move even an inch, though I desperately wanted to touch my head. Something seemed wrapped around it.
“She’s awake,” someone announced in a flat tone.
I sensed someone touching my thigh and became aware of pain that went far beyond the surface. It dug deep, as if I had been stabbed multiple times and left open.
“Elena,” I recognized Jax’s voice. “What do you feel?” he asked.
“Pain,” I answered.
I was shocked by how weak my voice sounded. It was as if I was on the verge of tears.
“How is her wound?” Jax asked, though not directed at me. The pack doctor must be here. I wanted to look around and see who else was in the room, but I couldn’t. “Doctor, please tell me the truth.”
