“You are what?!” Chloe’s high-pitched voice filled the entire room, making me close my eyes in surprise. We were inside her apartment.
Right after leaving Jax’s unit, I came here. I had considered going home, but I didn’t want my mother to see me crying and think badly of Jax again.
I shifted uncomfortably, sitting on the edge of Chloe’s bed.
