Elena’s POV
“You’re crying again?” Elle, the waitress at the coffee shop, sat across from me. I avoided her gaze and wiped away the last of my tears. “You’ve finished your last free cup of coffee, yet you’re still crying!”
I looked back down at my cappuccino.
Yeah. It had been a week, and I was still crying. A week, and I still had no word from Jax.
“Is it because of that handsome guy? Did you break up after that incident? Did he really cheat on you?” Elle asked in surprise. Even without looking, I knew her wide eyes were fixed on me.
I smiled and shook my head. “I wish it was that simple. At least then I’d have some idea why he disappeared again.” I glanced at her, fingers tracing the sides of my cup. “At least then I’d have a real reason to hate him and move on.”
