Chapter 43

1216 Words

CHAPTER FORTY-THREE The days of rain have made everything fresh and green. Since I'm on the road early, the traffic is light. I drive up to the swanky address that Specs gave me and find an unmarked police car parked in the secluded drive. I take my camera and walk to where Detectives Corrigan and Palumbo are standing. Corrigan is smoking a thin cigar and both men look anything but happy. "Dare I say, top O' the mornin' to you two fine lads? You both looked as if the proverbial roof had caved in. What's the story?" Palumbo jerks his thumb toward the entrance. "We have a top priority inside. It’s so much a priority that Chief Bleiler has sent our beloved Chief of Detectives, ‘Honest’ Jack Dean, to supervise the handling of this case. Come on inside before the other news media show up."
