An Old Friend

Lily faked the tears and was outside for more than five minutes, preparing to fake a depressing emotion. Brad had to believe her! After a while, she walked in and crashed the couch next to him. He looked tired, but she needed to gain his attention still. "Oh my goodness! I have never been more embarrassed in my whole life before. I hate her!" She cried out, silently waiting for his reaction or response at all. Brad ignored. He had other things on his mind. How had Alison been so cold to him like that! She looked so confident. It was starting to irk him. It wasn't until her name was mentioned from Lily before his attention was bought. His eyes lit up, not really in excitement or anger, really. He was just surprised to have heard about her. "Where did you see her? You mean the same Alison Ford?" He asked, curiosity filling him. Lily was not sure she enjoyed this urgent reaction but she nodded. "She humiliated me today. In front of a tiny little girl who was just trying to be nice to--" "--it's simple English, Lily. Where did you see Alison?" Brad cut her off, sounding impatient. Lily frowned. "Aren't you going to ask what she did to me? She said bad things about me." "You married your best friend's husband. What else do you expect her to say about you? Remember when you threw her boxes and bags out the window like she was a beggar?" Now, Lily was boiling. This wasn't how things was suppose to go! "Okay, are you going to side her now? We both fell in love with each other. Stop acting like I seduced you or something!" Brad waved off his hand in dismissal. "Whatever. I don't have time for this." The words surprised Lily. Ever since he'd seen Alison–or rather, heard her voice–he'd been rude and nonchalant with her. Like she had expired and Alison was just fresh! But truth be told, Alison had really changed. Positively. The phone rang and Brad went ahead to put it on speaker. "Sir, your mom is here." Announced the receptionist. "What? I can't believe she's here again. At this time of the night. What does she wants now?" Lily panicked. Her staying with Brad came with a price. His family didn't really like her and were only pretending because her father was wealthy, but after he died a year ago, he left her family with a lot of debts so they weren't as rich as they used to be. Still, was that enough reason to hate her? His mother always said she was dumb. "Just behave. Or go hide in the bedroom and pretend you're asleep or something." Brad said, again, nonchalantly. He didn't care as he used to. And it was now worse since Alison showed up in the picture ached three long years! "But--" Before she could proceed, Maria walked in. Lily froze as Maria looked around, scanning the room for...basically anything. When she didn't utter a word and went to sit, Lily could finally breath. "Maria, it's so lovely that you're here. Good evening to you--" Almost like she had not spoken at all!...Maria started to say, "Brad, the party is this Saturday. And you don't look prepared at all." Lily felt ignored, so hard that it hurt her chest. But she kept quit again. Brad brows furrowed, "Look at me living in a hotel. This place is f*****g expensive! And here you are talking about some useless party." "It's not useless. According to Maria, it's a really big party--" "--what are you even still doing here? I believe there's a room somewhere in there? Or you wait outside." Maria cut her off again before she could speak. This time, the disrespect was so strong even Brad felt it. "She wants to smoke, and your little asthmatic ass can't take it. Just go inside, Lily." Brad said, probably to him that had been the most nicest way to interpret his mother's harsh words. Her lips pressed hard together but she smiled. She managed an actual smile. "Of course. Excuse me," and with that, she left the living room. Once inside the room, she shut the door tight in a slam, and screamed out all her furiousness. "Damn it! Damn you, "What did I ever do to her, huh! And Brad, you fool...! I don't even love him like that. I don't!" It pained her but she secretly wanted to find out what was going on...their plan. It was obvious they were plotting against Alison. She rushed to her where her box was and dug out a piece of document. Fear crept into her skin as she re-read through its content. "That's right...I still have this to deal with. I shouldn't give a f**k about Maria or Brad or even Alison for all I care." She was too stressed out. Now she really needed to do something about that, and fast! She did something she had not done in a long while. "Pick up, you bastard!" It was a number of an old friend. Finally, he picked up. "I'm f*****g horny. What are we going to do about that? Also, it's time to put plan B in motion." *** It was Saturday already, and even though Alison had canceled out most of the work she was meant to do, the day had still been hectic! First, there was a program she was meant to attend and she'd been paid for it months back, so she couldn't postpone. Secondly, dressing up for a party was hard. Especially since Mira wasn't around. She tried to take her mind off that, but she really missed her. She'd begged her, called, texted, but Alison ignored it all. She needed to have a strong heart because she cannot risk anyone to break me again! And trusting hard was the main thing that can cause a heartbreak. Mira had to go. The day was giving way for the night now in it's fading color where the sun was about to go to bed, but her own day was just starting. She'd gotten her hair done, makeup too, and her outfits had been laid down when all of a sudden, "Hey, Ali. There's a problem." Celine announced. It was so abrupt Alison hadn't been expecting that at all. "W-what? What's that." "The dress. It's missing!" Now that was such a stupid thing to say! "My dress is missing?" She repeated again. Everyone attending to her face and makeover gave her space as Alison got up. "Come, see this. It's urgent." Celine rushed out before Alison could think twice about what was really going on.
