"Casey! Casey, you won't believe this! They contacted me! I got the job!!" Julia ran out of the room to meet her friend in the living room. Blue wasn't with them.
"O my gosh, are you one of their marketers now?"
"Well...no, but I got a job at least..." Julia's smile faded. She had forgotten to tell Casey about the part that she was not going to be a marketer for the company as she planned.

Tuesday morning.
"Hi, good morning," Julia greeted the head of Human resources at the headquarters of the Rosa group of companies.
"Good morning," the man looked up."Miss Pedro? Julia Pedro?"
"Yes sir." She nodded and watched him type something into his computer. Soon, someone joined them in the office. It was a forty-something-year-old woman.
"Vivian, this is Julia Pedro, she's going to be the new assistant for Mr..."
"Oh, it's her!" The woman cut the man short in excitement and Julia couldn't tell why.
"Yes, it's her."
"Do you want me to show her to his office?"
"Yes, please. And also give her the basics about him and his schedule."
"Okay, sir." The woman smiled."Come with me, Miss Pedro."
"Okay," Julia smiled politely and got up to leave with the woman."You can just call me Julia," She shrugged when they had left the man's office.
"You're a really brave girl, you know?" The woman smiled at her and had her start to worry about who she was going to work for.
"I don't get..." Julia didn't hide her confusion.
"Don't mind me, you should do great...you will do great. You look good for the job. Come this way," the woman directed.
They got into an elevator and it took them to the highest floor." So this is it. This floor is for our boss alone. Only his office is on this floor," the woman walked and Julia followed.
"Only his office?" Julia asked because she was seeing some other office doors and there were some men and women busy with one thing or the other.
"Well, these other offices are sub-offices of his. They're offices of the representatives of every company under the Rosa group. They go on meetings with him and that's what you'll be doing too, soon, but for now, the basics..." The woman took her to an office door and opened the door with a plastic card that hung on her neck.
"Don't worry, I already asked someone to get you one of these," the woman referred to the card."This is the new CEO's office. He'll be resuming tomorrow officially. He's the one you'll be assisting..."
"Ohh, okay." Julia nodded.
"You're expected to be here by six in the morning, every day, six days a week. The CEO will be at his office every day by seven, so you should be here early to get things ready."
"Okay," Julia took out a pen and a notepad to jot some things down.
"He doesn't like coffee, so get him a glass of freshly made juice once he arrives. He hates a scattered table so always make sure...." Julia kept jotting as much as she could as the woman spoke.
"I have a question?" Julia interrupted her.
"Yes?"
"Is the CEO a chatty type? Does he like conversations or does he like quietness?"
"Oh, he loves silence. Don't say anything when you're with him unless he asks you."
"Okay." Julia nodded.
"I think I've told you all I know about him." The woman smiled, a bit happy.
"Yeah, thanks, but what if I have more questions? Where can I find you here?" Julia wanted to know because the woman seemed nice.
"Oh honey, I won't be around starting from tomorrow. You're my replacement." The woman let her know.
"Hmmm?"
"Yes. I was the former CEO's assistant, but I'm retiring now that he's no longer on the chair and his son is taking over."
"Oh."
"You should do fine, don't worry. Good luck with it."
"Okay." Julia nodded again, while secretly wondering if it wasn't too late to reject the job offer.

The next morning.
Julia tapped her feet impatiently as she stood on the bus waiting to get to her bus stop. She looked at her phone and saw that it was almost six and yet she wasn't at her stop yet.
Fifteen minutes later, she got off the bus and hurried into the Rosa headquarters. Taking an elevator, she got to the highest floor of the building and went straight to her new boss's office.
She swiped the card that was handed to her yesterday over the door and it opened. Taking a look around the office, she decided that she wanted to impress the boss. She got the orange juice like she was told, cleaned and dusted the office, and sat waiting.
She looked at her phone and saw that it was few minutes before seven so she started to arrange her dress and hair. She heard footsteps approaching the office through the open door and got on her feet to greet the boss.
‘Relax, Julia, you've got this.’ She kept muttering to herself.
The footsteps stopped when they got to the door. She could even see their shadows but they weren't entering the office so she went and opened the door wider.
"Good morning, s..." She paused when she saw who was standing outside the door, she could recognize that chiseled jaw, pointed nose, and thick brows anywhere.
Drew went silent after seeing her too. He had stopped at the door to ask the man showing him the office why the door was recklessly open. But then, Julia showed herself, and his tongue became tied.
"She, sir, is your assistant." The man introduced Julia before urging her to introduce herself properly.
"Uhm," she cleared her throat to get her voice back. She knew she had to be professional if she wanted to keep her job."Good morning, sir. I'm Julia Pedro, and I'll be your new assistant. I'm happy to serve you, sir." She recited what she had practiced to say when the CEO finally arrived.
"Julia," he muttered her name like it was the first time he was hearing it; like he didn't call that name while telling her what to do in bed the night they spent together."Julia, I believe you're the reason the office was open when I arrived?" Julia felt a different tone from him than she knew from that night.
"Y-yes..." She nodded.
"It shouldn't happen again." His voice was authoritative."If you're in the office, the door stays closed, if you're not, it still remains closed. You do not leave the door to the office half open for any reason, this office contains important things. Do you understand?"
"Yes sir," Julia nodded again while still trying to process that the man she f****d just a few days ago was her boss.
"Thank you, Mr Kumar," Drew turned to the man who had shown him the office. The man smiled, bowed, and left. Julia moved to the side so he could come into the office.
He was so different. His tone of voice, his aura, Julia thought everything about him was different from that night. Everything but his non-smiling lips.
She stood by the corner after closing the door and watched on as he stood in the middle of his office, hands in his pockets while he toured his eyes through the place.
"Too bright, too distracting." She heard him say to himself. "Julia?" He called her again so she rushed to meet him where he stood while wondering if he wasn't feeling awkward meeting her as his PA after their night together.
‘He even asked me to stay back and eat with him? How is he acting so cool about it all!’ She was screaming in her head
"Sir," She answered his call.
"I want the office to look different by tomorrow when I return to it, I can't work here. Change the curtains. Take that horrible picture out and..."
"Which, sir?" Julia interrupted him to ask while jotting down. There were three pictures in the office. One of a man in a suit, one of a dark horse, and one of two dies on a plain background.
Drew turned to her. He wanted to ask if she was going to throw out his father's picture that hung on the wall but didn't. He did the math. If she didn't know who he was when she met him, she definitely didn't know his father.
"Throw out the picture of the dice, Julia." He just answered and saw her scribbling something down on her notepad immediately.
It was at that point, he started to feel what Julia had been feeling. He f****d her. He f****d Julia a few days ago and now she was in his new office, answering him with a sir and working as his new PA.
"f**k," he muttered to himself.
"I didn't catch that sir," Julia asked to know what he said so she could not it down but Drew just stared at her.
