Chapter 10

Sing me one more song, I said, still fascinated by his charm

Nicolas: Okay, I'm going to sing an evangelical song that I like a lot now

He closed his eyes and sang with his whole being; it was very heartwarming to see and hear; I was enchanted with everything about him, his tender way, his heavenly voice, the way he was treating me that moment. Then he decided to sing a couple more songs before our orders have arrived.

Isabella: these songs that you sang are beautiful; I've never heard of them before; there is a robust and meaningful lyric in here 

Nicolas: yes, and that was enough for me to decide to lend you my gospel playlist. Would you accept it?

Isabella: of course, you can send it over 

Nicolas: And would you also agree to come to church with me one day? I think you would.

Isabella: many invitations in only one day Nicolas

Nicolas: I'm very thrilled and affected, sorry he said, and I smiled at his humble words

Isabella: but yes, I do accept

We wolfed down the sushi, right after that a simple dessert too, and finally, 

he dropped me at home; the time flew by, it was already 10:30 pm.

Nicolas: Thanks for the night

Isabella:  It's me to thank you, it was terrific; I loved everything.

Nicolas: I'm very merry that you liked it, Isa, he said, and a silent, awkward moment went through for not too short, it was just us looking at each other and that moment   

Isabella: So, I think that's it ... good night Nicolas

Nicolas: Good night Isa

I got out of the car and got in the house, closed the door, went to the kitchen, drank some water as I was still thrilled, and  then went to my bedroom, locked the door, and threw myself on the bed smiling, thinking about the date.

Nicolas

Dear Lord, is she the one? I asked thoughtfully, staring at the ceiling. After today I just wanted it to be her, but it's for your will to be done, God. I knelt by the bed and prayed to the Lord

"My sweet Lord, thank you for today and for the incredible night I had with Isabella, you know my heart, and you know what is going on in my thoughts, you know that lately, I have been asking questions that only you have the answers to. I prayed for someone for so long, and when I saw her, I felt something different, Lord. But the heart is deceiving and untrustful. I don't want to be deceived, so Lord, I introduce Isabella to you; if she is the one, I believe you will give me a sign; if not, teach me how to control all that anxiety, and wait for your time. I fully trust that you have the best for me, even if she is not the person I'm longing for. Direct her to your ways, teach her to love you and seek you every day of her life, to crave the desire to know you and live for you. I am willing and all attainable to be used by you; thank you for your endless love, for the privilege of being in your presence, by your infinite mercy and kindness, may every day your mighty hands could work my heart and I can become a better person. Amen"

The Following day

I got up and went to take a shower, had my personal hygiene done, and got ready for another day crammed with tasks at school.

Nicolas: Good morning, Mother, said, entering the kitchen and kissing her on the forehead.

Luana: good morning, my lovely son, answered calmly

I sat at the table, had my breakfast, and then headed to college.

When I got to class, before even getting started, I saw Guilherme sitting at his desk, and so I sat down next to him.

Nicolas: What's up, partner

Guilherme: Hey man, did you ask the girl out?

Nicolas: I did; we went out last night. Now that I'm curious to know if it's her, I'm praying; let's see what happens from now on

Guilherme: good luck

Nicolas: thanks

Isabella

I woke up at 6:22 without delay, all cheerful and ready to start the day, no laziness this time, I was strangely excited and eager to tell the girls about the date last night, I took my daily shower,  put on my uniform, some basic makeup got my hair done, and my backpack ready, and went for breakfast .

Marcele: good morning daughter, you're glowing today

Lorenzo: and smiley 

Isabella: Good morning, my loved once, I said, sitting down at the coffee table. I'm just happy I added 

Marcele: How wonderful

As soon as I arrived at the class, I found the girls; the teacher showed up even before the bell rang, so I decided to wait for the break.

(Hours later at the playground)

 Paula, Rafa, Lucas, and I sat at a table for a snack, and we kept talking; it was my moment.

Rafaela: so, sister, how was it yesterday with Nicolas?  Asked curiously

Lucas: how was what? I'm not following, he asked, not understanding anything.

Paula: She went out with a boy yesterday, didn't you know?

Lucas: Oh, did she Paula? she doesn't tell me anything

Isabella: Sorry, I swear I'll let you know everything later; he looked at me with his eyes  half-closed angrily, and I remained silence 

Paula: Ow! Tell me how did it go; I'm curious

Isabella: He picked me up at 7:30 pm, at first he wanted to surprise me, and when we arrived he covered my eyes and took me to a  place. When he took his hands off my eyes I got really astonished, it was a place full of trees with light bulbs on each one of them, and there was a river right in front of us; we sat under a shadows wide tree, there was a towel under the lawn. He also brought a guitar and girls; his voice is fantastic, we were talking lying on the towel looking at the sky ... we ate sushi, dessert, it was perfect and simple.

Rafaela: Wow

Paula: and .no kissing?

Isabella: no, but everything else was just perfect  

Paula: Wow, I can't believe it, because after all, if I were you, I would have kissed him

Rafaela: typical Paula. she smiled

Paula: that is pure romanticism, little Sista

Isabella: I think that next date, who knows, maybe a kiss will come along 

Rafaela: that's it, girl! If he doesn't kiss you, you kiss him!

Isabella: Lucas. What about you, buddy anything new?

Lucas: I started taking karate classes in the afternoon

Isabella: hey, how fantastic; I need to get something to do in the afternoons too

Lucas: If you wish, I can stop by your house in the afternoon; you can attend a class or two 

Isabella: yes, I will; come on, girls?

Rafaela: I have something lined up with my mom; I won't make it 

Paula: I have to go to the gallery where my father works to help with some things, it won't work for me either

Isabella: so, let's do it just the two of us

We scheduled an appointment, and then we went back to the living room. When I got home after class, I did the usual, took a long shower, put on a comfortable outfit, had lunch, read a 

little, and decided to take a nap until it was time to hit the gym.That's seemed weird in my mid  

At the gym

This is Isabella, she's my friend and came to visit us and attend today's class; Lucas introduced me to the teacher

Marcos: hello, you're most welcome, Isabella; my name is Marcos; I'm delighted to see you. Are Are you sure you don't want to take a test class?

Isabella: I don't know; I'm not prepared for this. I smiled

Marcos: No problem at all, we can figure it out later; I looked at Lucas, totally indecisive if i would take it or not.

Lucas: well, it's your call; it won't cost you anything

And there I was a few minutes later wearing a kimono I borrowed from the gym, which was loose and funny on me, and having such a karate class that I. I never imagined doing someday. We started with some warm-ups, stretches; it was awkward; I didn't see that coming, but at the end of the day, I would be doing karate class, what's a thing.

Marcos: So, how do you like the class, Isa?

Isabella: yes, it was cool

Marcos: great, I hope to see you more often around here. I smiled boringly, even though it was cool. I didn't know if I wanted to go on 

Isabella: thank you!

I went to the locker room, changed my clothes, and when I came back, a girl who was also in the class was talking to Lucas; the two of them were smiling a lot, and I was just looking at them; I didn't want to interrupt, so I waited for the conversation to end, then we went home.

(Minutes later...)

Isabella: um, who is she?  I asked smiling, trying to embarrass him 

Lucas: a girl I met here

Isabella: I saw you there, you little trouble maker  

Lucas: Well, for your information, she's the one who started it; she was hitting on this hotshot here, pointing at himself

Isabella: what the hell, "I said, laughing. Let's go; I'm hungry

Lucas: and when aren't you 

Isabella: take care!

Lucas: alright

Lucas walked me home and then left; I went straight to the kitchen; I was 

thirsty and wanted something to drink and eat, and there was an excellent 

surprise waiting for me. My parents were cooking together in the kitchen.

Isabella: Wow, what a pleasant surprise! what are you preparing for dinner?

Lorenzo: your mother and I decided to leave work early today. We are making salmon with white sauce, white rice, and roasted vegetables on the side.

Isabella: it smells delicious; I'm going to take a shower while you guys are done

I took karate class today, I said before putting a spoonful in my mouth

Marcele: karate? Asked flabbergasted

Isabella: yes

Lorenzo: Since when did you became interested in karate, or is it some other type of sport?

Isabella: I'm not that interested, it was just a test class, but it was kind of cool.

Lorenzo: I think it's great to see you doing sports daughter

Marcele: me too, as long as there are no broken bones involved. 

Isabella: I'm not going to break any bones, mom, and It was a one-day thing; I don't know if I'll be back

Lorenzo: but if you are really into it, you should go back; why not?

End of dinner and we went to watch a movie on TV. I lay there thinking about Nicolas, what would he be doing at the moment? I couldn't help it, and I ended up texting him
