  Lyra   I slowly opened my eyes, squinting as the morning light hit my face. A groan slipped out—half annoyance, half exhaustion. The brightness was nad enough, but what made it worse was the feeling of something heavy and constricting wrapped tightly around me.   It felt like a giant phyton had coiled itself around my entire body, squeezing the air right out of my lungs.
