''Where have you been, your majesty?'' The Queen Mother asked.
''I took a lot of time finding for this watch. And was quite entertained by someone.''
''Enough of it, the crowd has been waiting for you.''
Mama then signals the butler to open the door.
''The Royal family is here. The Queen Mother herself is present to declare the season's rare. King Eugene accompanied by Duke Liam and Princess Regis are also present for the first ball of the season.''
We then walked the ballroom, people bowed and showed respect for us which I think might be a bit over.
The greetings of mama's occupied the Queen Mother and I myself was tasked by her to find a bride.
''Duke Colleymore brought her daughters, go and dance with Adelaide.'' she said before pushing me towards their circle.
'I'd rather dance with the youngest.'
I said to myself.
I saw Adelaide, she has an enjoying face. I know she saw me walking to their circle.
''Ugh.'' I whispered to myself. Duchess Colleymore must be whispering shits to her daughter not even worried about Thalia outside. What a shame to you, Duchess.
Then a certain thing on my mind.
''Good evening, your grace.'' I said to the Duke then turned to the Duchess, asking politely for her hand.
''Good evening, your highness.'' The Duchess said and greeted me with curtsy.
''This is my eldest daughter, Adelaide, your highness. She is ready for marriage.'' Lady Adelaide greeted me with curtsy as well.
''Good evening, your highness.'' she said. I just smiled.
'Is this who you are Adelaide?' I asked myself. I would've think of marrying you this moment if I haven't met your sister outside.
''Is the younger sister here?'' I asked which shook them. Well, I'm about to talk to them about Thalia as she deserved more praise.
''Ah. She might be dancing with someone right now.'' Adelaide answered.
Liars are not part of being a queen, Adelaide.
''I am quite interested in Lady Thalia. She has so many great theories about the scientific explanation of love and pain. I like it. I have read every article she have written. You must be proud of her as she is the first female to enter Harvard medical school.''
The Duke and the Duchess seemed annoyed about me praising Thalia. They must've hope that I'll enjoy Adelaide.
''I have a couple of blank spaces in my dance card, if you don't mind, your highness.'' Adelaide tried to change the topic but I am smarter.
''I'm tired of dancing. I was hoping I could be entertained by Lady Thalia about her theories. I better go, I think mama is calling me.'' I said.
I'm hoping that they would not call Thalia as I will enjoy the time that Thalia will never know I am the King of England.
''Have you danced with Adelaide, Eugene?'' Mama asked as soon as I went back to her side.
''No. She is not fit to be a Queen.''
''What? Adelaide is the purest stone here! That's absurd.''
''I saw her sister outside. She lied that Lady Thalia is dancing with someone. A scientist will never have time to think about marriage, Mama.''
''Adelaide is talented in both arts and music, why not her?' I heard from their maids that she's also a good cleaner and cook.'
''Is that your view of a woman, Mama? Cook and clean? Play the piano and paint?'' I asked.
''That is not what I meant. Why do you keep saying things like that?'' Mama said.
''My point is, Adelaide may be the purest here but I want her younger sister, Thalia. She's the one I want. I think I am old enough to choose my queen?''
Queen Mother sighed before smiling.
''Good. You saw the deception of Adelaide. She might be the purest here, the crystal among this stones. I have a spy maid there and Adelaide might have the beauty of a Queen but Thalia has everything that takes to be a Queen.''
''Wait, so you were testing me?''
''Yeah, King Eugene. I thought your still childish. Lady Thalia Colleymore shall be the next queen.''
''Really, Mama?''
''Ah. I have spies in every home and Thalia have exceedingly met my standards of a Queen.''
''The Queen Mother will now decide the Diamond of the season.''
The crowd claps.
''Who are you gonna choose, Mama?'' I whispered to her.
''Adelaide Colleymore.''
''But, you said...''
''The rarest of the season, Eugene, does not meant to be a 'queen'. Just a praise to someone beautiful. It'll be a shock to the whole square when you marry the uninterested sister of the rarest stone this season.''
''You got a point right there.''
''I, The Queen Mother of England, pronounce Lady Adelaide the rarest stone of the season.''
The Duke and Duchess gasp and Adelaide seems calm but her excitement can be shown.
The crowd clapped at her.
''Mama, I think Thalia is coming in...'' I saw Thalia's reflection at the glass door.
''Hide, quickly.'' Mama said which made me run to the backdoor.
I rode my horse back to the palace.
''I guess this is what they call 'Love at First Sight. I might have a new poem now.''
NEXT MORNING IN THE DUKEDOM OF CAMBRIDGE
''How shall I compare thee,
thy beauty is luxury,
is an angel out of duty
or thy god has forsaken thee
thy eyes is like sapphire
thy lips is fountain of smile
thy face is to be admire
like treasure, it is every man's desire.
bestowed with a unique beauty
blessed by the supreme divinity
can you be my Aphrodite?
for loving you is my duty.
thy beauty is paradise,
your existence is my life,
how I wish you to be mine,
but chasing air shall be a worth while.''
I read the newest poem of Geunee. I wonder if Eugene, the poet, really knows about Sir Geunee.
The new poem seems to be love at first sight. A poem for admiration.
I then stared at the sky, wondering who in the f*****g world is Eugene.
