Nine months later.
Mia's screams echoed through the hospital room. Her body trembled as her hands gripped the sheets, sweat slid down her gown. The pain was constant and raw, as fi her body was being torn apart from inside.
The nurses rushed toward her, their voices sharp and controlled, but she didn't hear any of it.
Now, the whole world had shrunk down to the searing fire in her bones and staying alive.
Then silence.
Then two cries.
Mia's chest heaved, tears blurred her eyes as she turned her head, yearning to see and embrace them.
Her heart pounded with terror and awe. She had carried them through months of secrecy, isolation, and fear. And now, they were here.
The nurse hesitated, then placed one of the children in her arms, a boy. Tiny, warm, and perfect. Mia pressed a kiss to his forehead, a sob caught in her throat. But then the moment was lost.
"Another one is coming, doctor!" a nurse shouted.
The doctor froze. According to the medical
report, she was supposed to have twins, but now, another one is coming out!!!!
The pain got worse as Mia was about to push the third baby. She was about to give up, she didn't have the strength to push out another child.
"Pushhh..." A nurse shouted.
I am trying," she was frustrated, the pain was killing her, and childbirth was not really easy, "the pain is too much, Ican't do this anymore."
"Don't give up, you can do this," a nurse tries to encourage her. "Just push harder, think about the
baby." With the motivation, Mia's hands clenched the nurse's hand as she pushed harder.
Finally, the baby was out.
Silence.
"Uh?" Mia looked at the doctor's white face
and the nurse's shocked face, something was wrong, she could feel it.
What happened? Why is my baby
not crying?" Mia asked, her heart beating fast.
Nobody responded to her.
"Why are you not answering me? What happened to my baby, please?" She pleaded.
The doctor went outside with the two babies that were breathing. He met with the secretary woman; he handed the babies to her.
"Thank you." The secretary said, she turned to leave, but the doctor called her back.
"The young lady. she gave birth to triplets."
The secretary froze. "Triplet?!!" Her eyes widened in disbelief. "How? The report clearly stated twins. Where is the child?" She asked the doctor multiple questions, but the doctor remained silent; he could not reply to her.
"What kind of mistake did you make to overlook an entire child"
A deep commanding voice said in the corner.
The doctor stiffened, sweat dripped down his brow as he turned towards the source of the voice.
Jason Brown.
"M-Mr. Brown..." the doctor's voice trembled as he did a 360 bow.
"Where is the third child then?"
"I-It's stillborn; the baby suffocated during childbirth." He swallowed hard, his voice unsteady.
"It seems you are really useless. You still could not save the baby after overlooking the child."
The doctor's eyes widened. "N-No M.r Brown." He knelt on the floor, begging for his life, he didn't want to lose his licence. His life will be over.
"Forgive me for my mistakes, it won't happen again," he pleaded.
The temperature of the corridor was cold, Jason's piercing blue eyes looked at the doctor and then said flatly. "No more mistakes. Dispose of the child." He left.
'So ruthless,' the doctor shivered as he thought. "Yes sir," he said as he watch Jason and the others left. He went back to the labor room to dispose the child.
"Doctor," Mia shouted immediately when she saw
him enter. "What happened to my baby," she cried.
"The baby is stillborn; the father has taken the two; he asked me to dispose of this one." The doctor said, then he turned to look at the nurse, "dispose the baby."
Mia could not believe her ears, she knew she was not allowed to take her children, but she didn't
want any of them to die.
The nurse was about to deal with the stillborn infant, but she noticed something strange.
"D- Doctor!!" She shouted. "T-The baby is alive."
All of a sudden the baby started crying. "Waa-Waa-Waa."
"My baby. you survived." Mia said, tears in her eyes.
"I have to inform him about doctor turned to leave.
Mia quickly held his hand. "Please, don't tell him, please let me take this one." She pleaded.
"He has the right to know his child is alive."
"He is satisfied with the twins, please let me keep this one." Her eyes brimming with tears.
"I-...." the doctor stuttered steering in her eyes. Her pleading gaze made him weak
"You have already told him the baby is stillborn, if he finds out you made a mistake, he can cancel your licence for not checking properly." Mia tried to persuade him.
The doctor remembered what Jason said earlier 'No more mistakes .' He shuddered thinking of what Mr Brown could do to him.
"Fine," the doctor said. His eyes stared into Mia's own, "make sure he never finds out that the child is alive, if not, we will both be in trouble."
"I wil never let him know, I promise."
Hours later, as she struggled to dress, the door creaked open. Atall man in black stepped inside.
Mia froze. "Who are you?"
He said nothing, only placed a suitcase, a discharge form and a key on the bed.
"What is this? Who sent you?"
Still no answer.
"You can't just walk in here...i have a baby!"
The man finally spoke, his voice low. "You have ten minutes."
Mia trembled. "Why are you helping me?"
He turned toward the door, waiting.
Pain and fear battled inside her, but when her baby whimpered softly, the decision was made. She wrapped her daughter and followed.
They moved through the hospital's back corridors, avoiding the security cameras and staff. He said nothing, not even as she whispered questions.
"Where are we going?"
"Who are you?"
"Why are you doing this?"
No reply.
Outside, a car waited in the cold night. The man opened the door. "She's safe now. Go."
Mia's voice trembled. "Please..... just tell me something."
He met her eyes, he still didn't say anything, then he turned and disappeared into the darkness.
Mia climbed into the car, holding her daughter. The driver said nothing. The city passed in a blur of lights and fear. Every heartbeat echoed the same promise in her mind. 'Protect her. No matter what.'
At the airport, her forged documents passed unnoticed. Her heart hammered as she whispered to her sleeping child, "I will not fail you."
As the plane rose toward the dawn, she kissed her daughter's forehead. "We are alive," she whispered. "We are free...for now."
Her reflection in the glass was pale, fierce, unbroken. "No one will ever take you from me," she vowed
