The ticking sound of the wall clock hanging at the end of my bed filled my silent bedroom. There was no sound inside the room except the one coming from the clock, which kept me company during that night. It was the only thing that helped me keep my guard up as I waited for Kaya and Risa, who were sleeping beside me, to wake up.   I took a deep breath then stared at the clock.
