CHAPTER EIGHT

One would think Tritia was called the place where the sun never set because it would always be bright and sunny, right? Well, Raina was not exempted from that delusional thought. The reality was astounding. It was quite the opposite. Tritia was called the place where the sun never set because the sun never rose. Tritia was an embodiment of darkness. Stepping into it was like every inch of oneself was being sucked into darkness, slowly eating what was left of the person. Raina began to think of possible reasons why anyone in their right mind would want to meet someone here. Tritia looked like it was night time, candles and lightings of all sorts illuminated the place. It was like a park but there was nothing fun in it except you would count two people exchanging blows at one corner of what would resemble a café. "Like I said before, Tritia is dangerous. With the war approaching, Tritia is as unsafe as anyone could imagine so try to hurry up with whoever you'll be meeting," Leslie said as they walked towards Wuthering Nights, a café just by the corner. "Wuthering Nights?" Raina asked in awe, "Had no idea you guys do Jane Austen." Leslie chuckled. "You are one of us, Raina. And yeah, we do like to read wide." Raina pushed the mahogany door open. Wuthering Nights was just like any other shady café. Without wasting time, Raina took a seat, her eyes shuffling the café for any sign of Arion or his partner. "I have to, uhm, meet someone here too. So, I'm gonna leave you here," Leslie said, as she stood up to walk. "Stay safe. Don't trust anyone." Raina huffed. Leslie was treating her like a kid right now. "Aye," Raina said as was surprised that came from her mouth. She drew out her phone from her jacket pocket. 6 messages: 4 from Jordan and 2 from Lydia. She pushed the phone back into her pocket and walked to the counter. The guy on shift was a brunette male who Raina thought to be good-looking at first sight. He smiled at her, revealing his dimples. Oops. She had been staring. She cleared her throat. "Give me something mild. Water, if possible." "Latte, coming right up." He said as he whispered something to his fellow bartender. "I'm guessing it's your first time here," He asked. "Wuthering Nights or Tritia?" Raina asked. "Even worse, I'm new to this realm." "Oh. I'll be glad to show you around," he said, wiping the counter. "If I'm done with my shift, that is." She stared at his brown eyes for a while. He seem... trustworthy. "Raina." "Caspian." He leaned to grab the cup of latte from his partner. "Latte for the lady." "Thanks." She sipped the latte, savoring those taste. "I'm supposed to be meeting someone here but I can't find him so here I am. I actually misinterpreted Tritia, ya know." "Yeah. Newbies go through that. But in time, you get use to it." Caspian said, reassuringly. "Yeah. Why do you even work in this sketchy place?" Raina asked. "Don't you ever get scared?" "Firstly, I work here to keep me sane. Secondly, despite the war going on the things happening in Tritia, I still find myself here, I guess. Sometimes I get scared but not when I can do something about it." He said. "What happens around here?" "Well, Tritia belongs to both realms and no realm. So, people go and come, faeries and ferrate alike. It gives the ferrate room to trample on us." Caspian said as he pause to attend to another woman, afterwards, he returned to Raina. "I might sound like a novice because I am but what actually caused this war, if I may ask?" "Dark Lord Calypso started it. Rumors have it that he's dying." He stopped to meet Raina's lost gaze. "You do know who the Dark Lord is, right?" Raina shook her head. "Would it be weird if I say that I just found out that I wasn't human, erm, mundane, few days ago?" Caspian's brown eyes widen in awe. "Uhmm, well. How are you adjusting?" "I came here today so, not much to say, I guess." Raina said. "Now, about Dark Lord Calypso..." "Right. King of the Ferrates, you see." Caspian started off, "He's looking for his heir because he's about to die and he thinks we're hoarding him or her as a means to get back to him." "Strange. I mean, crazy." Raina said. Whoever this Dark Lord was, he was crazy. "Can I call you Casp?" Raina asked. "Well, it's reserved for people who are very well acquainted with me but I can let you call me that. I'll be here anytime you need me." Caspian said as Raina watched as his gaze moved to something behind her. "Is that the guy you're looking for?" Raina turned to meet deep sea blue eyes of Arion. "The princess finally showed up." • • • He squeezed the robe he was wearing, his throat tickling him. He grabbed the glass and gulped it's contents in one go but the tickling sensation refused to stop. He would feel the person if he or she was here but he hadn't gotten any vibes yet. He was dying. He was already second guessing whether he would still find his heir. The She. But now, he needed to drink. It had never been a problem before for him, until now. Every year since he drank the f*******n elixir of life, he was cursed to drink. Not wine or vodka. No. Blood. Blood of a chosen but definite random person. It had never been a threat to him before until now. It seem like he would never find the person. He hadn't gotten a single vibe... Until now. His throat was tickling him excitedly. This happens when the person was near.
