Werewolves

That night at supper, no one mentioned that the next day was Bria’s birthday. She honestly didn’t expect them to, she hadn’t been around very long. Katie was at work, so Jade cooked the evening meal, a vegetarian stir-fry with freshly baked bread. It was delicious, but Bria had a hard time concentrating on eating it, thoughts of her strange encounter with Marcus running through her mind. It’s you, he had said. What did he mean by that? Luckily, Lara and Jade were too distracted by tales of Opal’s escapades to notice.     Opal, who had come back a day early from her weekend out, had much to tell them. Bria hadn’t known Opal very long, but she knew enough to realize that Opal was blunt, dramatic, and craved attention. She sat on one end of the dining table, a glass of red wine the same color as her hair, dramatically held in one hand.     “So, I came home early.” Opal told them, stating the obvious. She wanted them to take the bait, to ask her why. Lara shook her head, knowingly, but Jade acquiesced. Opal looked approvingly at her twin, and continued, swirling her wine around. “As you all know, I left for a girl’s weekend. Sarah, Tasha, Kiara, and myself. We booked a double king sized suite, brought plenty of liquor, and lots of cash for the casino downstairs.”     Jade cringed, “I don’t know how that is fun, sharing a room with so many people.”     “There are lots of fun things that can be done in a hotel room with a group of girls” Opal winked, “There are movies about it. Not that I should say too much in front of the witchling, here.”     “I’m not a child, Opal.” Bria rolled her eyes, exasperated. “You two aren’t much older than me.”     “And at your age, I suppose I was doing a lot of scandalous things already.” Opal laughed, “very well, Bria. See if you can stomach my stories, they get explicit.”     “And she doesn’t shut up until she’s told them.” Jade sighed, “We may as well get it over with.”     “Anyway,” Opal continued. “I was at the blackjack table, flirting with some hotties, when in walks a man I’ve never seen before. I set my sights on him immediately. The girls knew I meant business. They know I usually get what I want…one way, or another.”     “Using love potions to pick up men isn’t right, Opal.” Lara reminded her. “How would you like someone to spike your drink?”     “Don’t be dramatic, Lara! It’s no difference than you using your vampire gaze to stun beautiful women.” Opal gave her a knowing glance, “Don’t tell me you never used that to your advantage…”     “Not for s*x…” Lara mumbled, sipping from her goblet.     “Anyway…This guy was tall, dark, and handsome. The whole package. He was well dressed, had a killer body. The suit was tailored so well, I could see every muscle ripple beneath it. I could tell his…manhood was generous, as well.” Opal licked her lips, “So of course, I go right up to him, and try to catch his attention.”     “I was looking my best, very sexy. Black dress, low cut, backless. Stiletto heels. Hair styled, sexy pout on my face. Every straight man was eyeing me that night. I was on point.” Opal paused dramatically, appreciating the memory of herself. “I mean, I would have f****d me.”     “I’m sure you would have,” Jade snorted, “What won’t you f**k?”     “Shush, sister. I’m getting to the unbelievable part.” Opal sighed dramatically. “I brought my best game. Conversation, a 'special' drink, using my body language, and he wouldn’t even look at me. Not interested. he resisted my magic.”     “And that’s why you left early?” Lara asked, “Because a man didn’t want you?”     “No, I’m getting to that part, that happened later.” Opal shushed her sister in law. “Anyway, he talked to me. Politely. But he just wasn’t interested. Had a sad, far-off look. It’s too bad. His eyes, they were so sexy. Smoldered like golden embers.”     Bria pricked up when she heard that. Tall, dark, handsome, with golden eyes? That description did sound familiar. It probably wasn’t Marcus, but now, she was hooked.     “Anyway, he went to have a chat with an older man in a suit, and I was so curious, I wanted to know what they were talking about. It looked serious. So, I used a little magic.” Opal snapped her fingers. “The flame in the candle, on their table, I channeled a bit of my magic into it. I couldn’t help myself.”     “Maybe it was a date?” Lara suggested, “Some people are gay.”     “No, it was business. A meeting. Not everyone is gay, Lara.” Opal rolled her eyes, “I mean, I don’t say no to a nice p***y either, so I’m not judging. I’m just saying, this was a serious meeting.”     “So you spied on it?” Jade asked, “I’m not surprised.”     “Well, you’ll be glad I did!” Opal insisted, “It was juicy. I didn’t catch every word, of course, the flame flickered and the reception came in and out…but I heard enough. The handsome specimen of man meat is new to this area, I gathered. The man he was talking to was putting some pressure on him, pressure to expand his territory.”     “Expand his territory?” Bria asked, “What does that mean?”     “Don’t get ahead of me, there’s more!” Opal raised a finger to hush Bria, her perfectly manicured talon as glinting in the candlelight. “So, the sexy stranger said no, he wasn’t going to steal territory from another pack.”     “A pack?” Lara asked, her ears pricking up for the first time, “You’re sure?”     “Yes, Lara!” Opal continued, “Anyway, he told the older man that he was here for one reason, to find his Luna, and that he wouldn’t reignite a two decade old war.”     “Luna?” Bria asked, curious, “Like the moon?”     “Like a werewolf.” Jade breathed, “He must be a werewolf, looking for his mate. Here.”     “His mate?” Bria felt a tingle between her thighs, picturing what a werewolf might do to his mate. She bit her lip to stop her feelings from growing out of control.     “Yes.” Lara explained, “Werewolves have mates, soulmates. Anyway, the mate of an Alpha werewolf is called a Luna. Once they find one another, they are marked, and bound together for life. It’s very…carnal. ”     “And vampire love isn’t?” laughed Opal. “Anyway, that explains why he wouldn’t respond to my advances. He’s probably saving himself for his mate.”     “Werewolves do that? Save themselves for their one true love?” Bria asked.     “Some do, some don’t.” Lara mused, “Some are more romantic than others.”     “Still, you have to wonder what it would be like to f**k one…” Opal sighed, “I’ve never bedded a werewolf before. Especially an Alpha. I bet they have massive cocks.”     Jade mimed vomiting into her napkin, “Shut up before I hurl, Opal.”     “Not all of us are asexual like you, Jade. Some of us have complex needs, eh, Bria?” Opal threw Bria a wink, “Would you ever f**k a werewolf?”     Bria felt her face grow hot, and was relieved when Lara sent Opal a withering look and told her to stop harassing everyone about their s*x lives.     “Anyway, why did you come home early?” asked Jade.     “Oh, that’s a stupid story. So, I couldn’t bone the wolfman, so I got really drunk with the girls, and then, before I knew it, it was really late. Tasha and I were at the bar alone with this cute, stupid, frat guy. Anyway, we both liked him, and he was the last d**k in the room, so we both went back to his room with him, for a little old-fashioned threesome.”     “With Tasha?” Jade whistled, “How was that?”     “Sexy, fun. Anyway, he fell asleep after round one, and Tasha and I were still horny…so we f****d on the bed next to him. She ate my p***y like a pro…” Opal sighed.     “We don’t need details.” Jade reminded her, “Please, spare me the details.”     “Well, it was fun. We both came a few times, no big deal. Or so I thought. But, the next day, Tasha couldn’t look at me.” Opal sighed, “It was getting awkward, so after an afternoon at the spa, I decided to come home rather than spend the night in the same room with her.”     “So, you ruined a girl’s weekend by f*****g your friend? I’m not surprised.” Jade told her, “Tasha is more sensitive than you, it was a bad call.”     “She’s an adult.” Opal shrugged. “And she’ll get over it. A little space and we’ll be good again. Or, she’ll be craving some more and shoot me a late night text.”     “You’re delusional, Opal.” her sister told her. The two of them bickered some more, which seemed to be the natural state of things between them.     Bria was barely listening to the rest of Opal’s story. She was still thinking about Marcus, about the wolf from her dream, about the werewolf with the golden eyes who wasn’t tempted by Opal’s flirtations. Could it all be connected. She looked down at her palm under the table, the silver crescent glowing there. She was still unsure how it had gotten there. Had she performed magic in her sleep? Or had the dream stranger’s lips really marked her?
