... you'd be dead by now.

"Good day" i greet them before looking down. "Courtesy!" Rwanda snarls. Courtesy? Is she a queen? I'm too timid to say anything in my defense so I do as she says. The doctor, maid and guards pretend not to see what's going on and just stand watching us. "Now, your main reason for being here is so we can take your blood sample" Rwanda says before standing and going over to the doctor. Her green silk long gown sweeping the marble floor as she walks. My eyes widen at her words and i gasp. "why?" Rita scoffs shaking her head while Rwanda pauses. She snaps her head to look at me and then she frowns. "you must add madam when you address me and do not question me ever again. Am I clear?" I nod looking down. "by the way, the test is done so we can have your medical records and also so no imposter can pretend to be you. It's a tradition in the Cartel family and it's been done for decades. Now sit so the doctor can take the sample" I'm reluctant but I don't dare say anything and I just sit on the clinic bed. The doctor who seems to be in his early forties takes out his syringe and takes my blood sample. He hands me a cotton wool and then transfers my blood into a tube that has my name printed on it. I place the cotton wool on the spot that the syringe was inserted and rub it slightly before holding it in place for some time. When it stops bringing out anymore blood, the doctor takes the cotton wool and places it in a paper bag. "You may leave now. We're done here" Rwanda announces before leaving, Rita and her maids trailing behind her. I slide off the bed and leave the clinic counting the steps to my lonely room. ---- now ---- The same doctor announces that he's done and goes to a corner to match the sample with my previous one. I catch a glimpse of the same tube my blood was inserted before. His brown eyes focus on the samples and the machine in his front. Romero silently waits for the results while looking outside the large windows of the hall. I sit silently, tapping my foot on the marble floors and hoping my previous sample has not been tampered with. "The results are ready sir" the doctor announces before standing up. I don't move but Romero rushes to him. "It's a match sir, she's the same woman" I let out a sigh of relief. I honestly thought it had been tampered with. "Are you sure?" Romero asks him, his blue glistening as he speaks. The doctor nods confidently. "Yes sir, apart from the medical comparison, I recognize her from the first time I took the test" Romero nods and steals a glance at me before dismissing the doctor. I'm happy the test came out right! I'm sure the only reason the test had not been tampered with is because she had no idea I'll be coming back. If she did, she'd make sure I don't step a foot in this mansion. I stand up clutching my bag before glaring at Romero. "You got your proof right? So funny you needed a doctor to identify your wife" he snaps his head in my direction and stares pointedly at me. "Sapphire!" He growls, the anger evident in his voice. "You should know that if you were anyother person you'd be dead by now. Do not take my restraint for weakness" I roll my eyes deciding not to say anything. I didn't come here to go over our past, I came here to get revenge. I need to settle in first. "I'm guessing my former room is still available. You can tell your guards to open the door now" I say folding my arms. Romero watches my every move like a tiger watches his prey. I remember having to skip eating and faking to be sick just so I could see him. Romero Cartel is as unavailable as getting signal on an isolated mountain on a rainy day. He's always traveling, always on meetings. He runs the business and runs the mafia. I can count the number of times we've ever seen face to face. "Why aren't you staying in my room" he states c*****g his head to the side. I give him a pointed look "since when did we ever sleep in the same room? Why change that now" "fine, I have no intention on arguing with you. I'll speak to you later. As it is, you've wasted a lot of my time and I have better things to do. If you had not actually been Sapphire, I don't want to tell you what would have happened to you" with that, he grabs his phone and informs his guards to open the door. Immediately the door is thrown open, I walk out of the hall and search for Diego. Outside of the mansion is very busy as the guests are trying to drive out. There's a line of cars waiting to move out. When I find him, I go over to him smiling. "How was it?" He asks immediately he notices me. "Good, no casualties" I say winking. "I could tell, everyone came out whispering and talking about the new lady. You couldn't have picked a better day" his eyes sparkle as he speaks and I can tell he's been worried. He knows I took a very bold and dangerous step by doing what I did today. It could have gone really bad if Romero hadn't acted calmly. "Thanks for being here, by the way. We need to get ourselves settled in. I for one, I'm really tired" Diego chuckles before leading me to our cars. Two of our men get our luggages out of the car before parking the cars in the large garage. "Tell the rest to stay at the hotel i booked earlier on. You two and the two ladies will stay here. The ladies will stay with me in my room and you two stay with Diego. At all times, am I clear?" They both nod "yes madam" I tell them where to take the luggages to before escorting Diego to his room and going to mine.
