Chapter 3

818 Words
Although Ethan and Bonnie had never met before, Ethan recognized her from photos Isabella had shown him and took a moment to look her over. "Hello, sir, how can I help you today?" Bonnie greeted him with a professional smile. Ethan inhaled deeply, suppressing his irritation, and smiled as he handed over the Redbud Card. "Hello, I'd like to make a withdrawal." With Bonnie's professional experience, she had never seen such a bank card before. She repeatedly examined the card and doubted, "Sir, are you sure it is the bank card?" "Definitely," Ethan nodded, his gaze sweeping up and down Bonnie. Her professional attire highlighted her elegant figure and combined with her delicate skin and fine features, she exuded a vulnerable yet appealing charm, just as Isabella had described—a real beauty. But now Bonnie frowned and proceeded to insert it into the reader again and again. When the computer repeatedly failed to read the card, Bonnie's patience ran thin. She handed the card back to Ethan with an indifferent expression. "I'm sorry, sir, but our system can't read this card." 'How is that possible?' Ethan frowned, puzzled. 'If Andrew can easily pay 20 thousand dollars for Ruby's medical fees, how could he have given me a fake card?' "Could you try again, please?" He needed the money urgently for Ruby's continuing treatment and to rent a new place after his divorce from Isabella. "Sir, are you here just to cause trouble?" Bonnie arched an eyebrow, her expression icy, "Even if you insist on staring at my chest, you should at least use a real bank card. Please leave and don't delay other customers who wish to take care of legitimate business, or I will call security." Ethan was dumbfounded. 'What was she talking about?' Before he could explain, Bonnie crossed her arms and shouted, "Security!" Immediately, two security guards approached. "Sir, please leave. It's working hours, and you are harassing our staff. We will not hesitate to use force." "I..." Ethan was speechless, his frustration mounting. Not only had he not retrieved any money, but now he was also being branded as a troublemaker. At that moment, a portly middle-aged man in a suit came over. "What's the issue here?" "Mr. Valdez, this man brought a fake bank card to mess with me," Bonnie quickly strutted toward him, leaning forward slightly to reveal a glimpse of her cleavage, and complained in a flirtatious tone, "And he's been ogling me!" This change in her demeanor from icy to flirtatious left Ethan completely baffled. Isabella had described Bonnie as a conservative and traditional good girl; she was apparently still reserved, even after committing to Daniel. Isabella told him they barely gone beyond holding hands. Ethan wasn't naive or blind. Today, he had seen Bonnie's true colors. Peter Valdez's face instantly soured, his gaze at Ethan now full of animosity. "Sir, this is a bank. Please conduct yourself properly. I'm the bank manager, and I'm asking you to leave, or I'll have security escort you out." Hearing Peter's instruction, Bonnie's demeanor became even more coquettish. She pouted and said, "Mr. Valdez, why even bother talking to him? Just have security throw him out, security—" Ethan, already irritated, now erupted in anger at Bonnie's antics. Thud! He slammed the Redbud Card down on the counter and yelled, "I'm here to withdraw money, and you're falsely accusing a customer of leering at your staff—is this your bank's idea of customer service?" Peter, initially ready to confront Ethan, instinctively glanced at the Redbud Card. At the next moment, Peter's mind went blank, his eyes widened in shock, and beads of sweat quickly appeared on his forehead. Bonnie mocked, "Mr. Valdez, it's fake." Peter nervously wiped the sweat from his forehead; his dark face changed into a flattering smile. He bowed in the shoulders and fawned, "Sir, please forgive me. I really don't know you're a VIP with Redbud Card. Please come to my office, and I'll personally help you with your business." Hearing Peter's words, Bonnie shivered and exclaimed with surprise, "Is it genuine?" Bang! Peter slashed her face hard and turned to Ethan, flattering, "Sir, this way." Ethan raised his eyebrow and threw a disdainful look at Bonnie; he followed Peter into his office. It turned out that Bonnie's rank was too low to access such a bank card. But what the bank reacted to it made him angry. Meanwhile, he was curious about the amount in this Redbud card. After they entered into the office, the bank lobby, once the complete silence, became noisy again. Everyone standing by showed shock and horror; no one expected things to turn out like this. Bonnie froze up, her beautiful eyes filled with tears and her body trembling slightly. She realized something serious. She was in trouble; she committed a offense that even Peter dared not to help her with.
