Hayden closed up to my side and the fever that I had momentarily forgotten that I had seemed to come back full force, making my entire body grow hot in a few seconds.
Hayden was quick to notice, so he reached out for my forehead in concern and asked, “Are you alright?”
I nodded, taking a step back from him. “Yeah, just a little fever. Nothing big,” I said in a reassuring tone.
Hayden’s brows furrowed and he insisted, “Are you sure you’re alright?”
“I’m fine. I promise.”
I really didn’t want to ruin this moment. This was the first time in my life that someone has done something this nice to me on my birthday. I had to cherish it no matter the cost.
What was the worst thing this little fever could do to me anyway?
