“... What do you mean by that?” I asked cautiously after a beat.
“River… I’ve never seen him be so persistent about something. Dahlia, if you don’t return to Night Garden of your own accord soon, River might do something terrible to you.” Mother said with a low and cautious voice, as though she was afraid of someone hearing what she was saying.
But her words didn’t faze me one bit at all.
“River has done many terrible things to me, why is this time any different?” I retorted.
“Because there is a child involved.”
“I don’t know which one of them put you up to this—Father or River. But I know that I’m not going to be scared into doing anything that I don’t want to. And I want you to tell Father that he should stop calling my phone, it’s causing overheating.”
