Chapter 7 Preparation

As if their job isn't crazy enough, Ryan decided to buy an airline. Yep, it's official, he is crazy. Reasonably crazy, but still crazy. His partners could only stare at their phones when he announced that he's buying Avia air, a near broke airline that fell because one of their low budget flight crashed to the sea. As if that isn't a black hole enough, the company was rife with corruptions. Rats, his partners thought, but they'd learned to trust Ryan's sense of business young, so they shrugged. "It's your money, on your head it will be" James had said. 

He spent three weeks overhauling the whole things, buying aircrafts from another broke airline, fired the whole staffs and hired new ones and in two months, the newly renamed RDJ air is on it's very first pilot flight to Bali, flying the owners, their wedding party and a whole host of curious people. Ryan sure work fast. How he managed to do it, along with managing a hospital accreditation, a game launching and other small erruptions here and there courtesy of the hotel's volatile chef while preparing for his wedding and caring for Raina is beyond everyone's mind. But he nailed it.

Flight in RDJ Air quickly became the rave of reviews and bookings started to flow in. James and Darrell merely shrugged, well used to Ryan's topsy turvy investments, but Jared nearly blew his top. That is until he saw the plane, all cozy and crowded. He stared at his brother in amazement. "This is done in two months? " Ryan shrugged. "More or less. I sent the staffs for a two months training packages. It's secure, and we have the top notch emergency system. Hmm, I was thinking of investing on some emergency services for planes, you know in case of emergencies." "Yes we've got you at… emergencies" Jared said tiredly. A monster. He'd created a monster. 

"Serious, though, isn't this the airline that fell to the sea? How'd you do it? " Ryan tapped his chin. "Oh, I learned that a flight is a flight, and overhauling does wonders, doesn't it? And mom's public image lesson does help too. Now we just need to cooperate with some tour and travel agency and we have a completeexclusive RDJ holiday package " He rubbed his palms in excitement. Beside him, his bride- to- be smiled in amusement. 

"How did you stand him like this? " Jared asked his sister-in-law to be. Raina smiled guiltily. "Part of this is my fault, to be honest." Jared stared at her. "He read about it in the magazine while he accompanied me making a cake. " "He accompanied you making a cake? In workday? " She shook her head. "I have a sudden need to bake a cake after our family dinner two months ago." Jared started to see it. "What time was this? " "Around eleven at night? " He nodded. This couple is crazy. That explained it. "Let me guess. You were making a rainbow cake. At eleven at night" Raina stared at him. "How did you know?! Ryan said that rainbow inspired him to have a holiday! " She said cheerfully. Sometimes Jared forgot that his brother was only 21 and his sister-in-law 17, so he had to excuse their childish idea once in a while because they are young. 

Though, it seemed to be working. Instead of nervousness, he could see excited faces all around. Oh well, as long as they arrived safely. The flight was so smooth that he couldn't even feel their take off and landing. Ryan smirked. He tried all the pilots himself when they took off and landed just for this purpose. Unknown to all the people, the requirements to work at RDJ air is so rigid, and they are very selective in their staff choosing, all to ensure comfort and security. And now it paid off. All so that Raina can have a safe flight during her pregnancy. He actually contemplated on a private jet, but thought that if you can make money, why spend? So he decided to invest instead. He still bought that private jet because he liked the features, but the airline will be his gold mine.

The hotel needs a lot of work, but they are still one of the best luxury hotels around. The services are good, and Ryan had flown some trainers to retrain the staffs the month before. Jared had noted some of the renovations he wanted to be done as they walked around the hotel. Raina had already gone to their room for some rest. Jared closed his pad and said. "So, enough about work. You're getting married tomorrow. How are you feeling? "

Ryan smiled at him. "I'm happy and excited. Raina is too. She baked a lot the past few weeks. I already had to enlarge my waist line." Jared laughed and patted his shoulder then sobered "did you wished that things were different and he was here? " He didn't have to specify who he meant by 'he'. "Honestly, not really, no. It doesn't make a difference. I never thought of him as my father, after all. More like the nag. Nothing I did was right in his eyes." Ryan sighed. "Just so you know, I had this talk with my wife before." His brother shook his head. "She's not yet your wife, at least until tomorrow." Ryan smiled crookedly. "Nonetheless, he is still your father." "Biologically. You're my father in all sense that mattered." "That's a huge compliment, believe me. Still… " "I know, Jared. I'm just… look. He's not here, and even if I invited him, I sincerely doubted he'd attend. In fact, I think he'd blow his top if he knew Raina is pregnant with someone else's child." Jared nodded reluctantly. "That sound's about right. But regardless, he's still our father and he did love us, deep in his heart. " "Jared, let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that. I really don't want to talk about it. For me, he's always been a stranger." Jared sighed reluctantly. "Okay then. I won't talk about it anymore. So, how's the preparation for tomorrow? "

"Isla's taking care of it, and the president is coming, so we have to endure their security checks. I don't know how they did it, but Isla and Raina managed to arrange our wedding without getting her too tired. She's pretty excited about it too." Ryan beamed. He felt more in love with her each days. "That's great. And how's your relationship with her?" " It's going great too. We talked a lot and shared a lot too. I think I started to love her when she defended me in the doctor's office. It was surprising as she'd been listless all day, and then she just blew up when Dr Santi scolded me. She's a strong girl."

"Yeah, she's good for you. But I'm really surprised too. Turns out you're a very responsible father. Of course there's moments I wondered about your maturity, like when you told me about purchasing that airlines, but oh well. Once I saw the public response, I understand." Jared nodded. "I wondered about it too, to be honest. But then I studied about it and found that even in difficult times, airlines almost always survived, it's a gamble, sure, but it's worth it. " Ryan stood up and stretched. "I'm going up, see you at dinner" He waved out.
