Chapter 4

"Was the money I gave you not enough?" he asked arrogantly.

"You should have known my purpose for coming here, Mr. Franklin!" Elena stared at him sharply, inviting his eyes to meet hers. People said that eyes could speak more honestly than one's mouth, but all Elena saw in Alex's eyes was depravity.

"I didn't know and didn't care to know. If it's not important, don't waste my time. You can leave now!" Alex maintained his arrogant attitude, even refusing to look at Elena while speaking. He raised his chin and put on an uninterested expression.

"Don't you realize how out of line you've been towards me? You're the one who caused my mom's death, taking advantage of me to gain control of your family's company. You deceived your whole family, you deceived me with your words, and then you'll married another woman!" Elena couldn't hold back her emotions, she wanted to slap Alex.

"Yes, I did all of that. So what do you want?" Alex didn't defend himself, even when Elena pointed her finger at his chest.

"You want money?" Alex's question made Elena feel incredibly debased.

"Do you think everything can be bought with money? Including my dignity? I won't accept a single penny from you, and I have already returned it to your account!" Elena was firm. All she wanted was for Alex to take responsibility for his words, promises, and actions towards her.

No amount of money would ever be able to compensate for the pain and disappointment she felt towards Alex.

Alex grinned, "Who said it couldn't? Didn't you agree to the contract because of the amount of money I offered you?"

Before Elena could respond, Alex continued, "And as for your dignity, it doesn't need to be discussed anymore. You don't even have any value! You didn't resist when I kissed you multiple times, even though it was only agreed in our contract to act as a couple in front of the Franklin family, outside of that, we're just strangers!"

Alex trampled on Elena's dignity and humiliated. He was showing that he didn't have any feelings towards her at all, and everything they went through meant nothing to him.

"Do you think this is a romance novel that turns a kiss into true love? You expect too much from me, Elena!" Alex laughed villainously, stunning Elena with his words.

"I seriously hired you as my girlfriend and paid you, but I don't truly love you and don't want to marry you. Let me be honest, you're not even my type!"

"You bastard! I wouldn't have signed that contract if you didn't threaten to revoke my scholarship on campus, but if I had known, I would have rather died than deal with the devil like you!" Elena regretted that she had been foolish just because of love.

"As for that damn kiss, I admit that I didn't dare refuse or fight back at that time because you were the one in power, but not anymore! I will repay you for everything you've done to me!"

"Do whatever you want, all I know is that I fulfilled our contract and paid you according to the agreement, and now we have nothing to do with each other!" Alex didn't care about Elena's anger.

"Are you going to report me for the kiss? You would only be laughed at by the police. Besides, you didn't refuse then, unless I forced you to do something more, that would be wrong and you could sue me!"

"You've done more than that, Alex. Do you know what you did to me that night? And now everything has happened!" Elena shouted, pushing Alex until he stumbled and nearly fell.

"What do you mean?" Alex asked challengingly, starting to panic and trying to understand what Elena was saying.

"Weren't you touching me that night? Then you erased all traces and evidence and acted like nothing happened between us that night. You're a coward! A lowly man who thinks only of his own pleasure!" Elena exploded while Alex tensed hearing Elena's statement.

"Are you pregnant?" Alex didn't want to respond to Elena's insults and his mind focused on what happened that night.

"Yes! Why? Do you think you did it? Do you want me to have an abortion? After using me, causing my mom to die, throwing me away, do you want to get rid of this baby, too?" Elena's voice was still loud, even though her body was shaking with anger and her eyes were teary.

"Hahaha!" Alex laughed, making Elena think he was even crazier. Elena clenched her fists in anger seeing Alex's response as if he was joking.

"It's impossible for you to be pregnant with just one hot night. I'm not stupid enough to leave my seed in the womb of a pathetic, stupid girl like you!" Alex retorted, pushing Elena with his fingers, pressing hard on her shoulders.

Elena was shocked to hear Alex's answer. It was a far cry from what she had expected from the person who had encouraged her to always be confident and never to feel inferior but now he was the one who mocked and insulted her.

"I did touch you that night, but you were the one who asked for it. You were drunk! It’s you!" Alex looked down, staring at Elena fiercely, he growled with reddened eyes.

Before Elena could respond to Alex's words, he quickly silenced her mouth with his lips and led her body towards the wall, pinning her.

Elena screamed but was muted by Alex's lips isolating her mouth. Her hands pounded Alex's chest, but as quickly as lightning, Alex locked their movements. Elena's legs were weak, spending a lot of energy to vent her emotions.

Alex didn't want Elena to talk anymore, so he had to use this way to silence her.

The woman cried, her defense crumbled, she was touched by a man who had only made her a doll to get what he wanted, a man who had pretended to love her all this time, the man who had become the biggest source of suffering in her life.

"You asked for it, that's a fact, Elena! So don't blame me!" Alex released his grip, but didn't reduce the distance between them. Their faces were so close that their noses touched, and Elena was truly disgusted with her current position.

"How do you know we did it that night? Do you remember or are you pretending not to know so you can enjoy my touch without shame?" Alex whispered.

SLAP!

Elena slapped him. How could Alex talk about something so dirty in such a dire situation like this?

Alex pulled at his lips, "You love me so much that you're willing to give me everything." he said, ignoring the reddening of his cheeks. Elena felt very embarrassed.

"I hate you so much!"

"I love you too, Elena."

"You devil! Bastard!"

"I know I'm very handsome."

"I'll ruin your life, Alex!"

"Hahaha."

None of Alex's answers matched.

"Sorry, Elena, we can't live together. I know you came here to demand accountability for your feelings that have gone crazy for me, but unfortunately, I will marry Rachel!" Alex chose to be annoying even though he was still receiving Elena's hateful glare.

"By the way, about your pregnancy, I don't believe it. I played it safe that night. Many women claim to be pregnant with my child, they do it to gain profit and money. I didn't expect you were any different from them."

Elena smiled wryly and nodded her head, she had seen enough of what he was really like.

"You'll regret it, Alex!" Elena pushed Alex to the point of falling to the floor.

"Aahh!" Alex groaned but got up immediately. "I don't have to regret anything, you better leave before I tell my bodyguard to get rid of you forever!" Alex barked, he couldn't continue the debate, Elena made his head hurt.

It was all useless now. Alex would only make her heart ache more. Elena left, slamming the door hard, unable to bear her tears, and holding back her sobs.

Before Elena opened the door, the man said, "Anyway, tell your friend, Jennifer, to stop calling me and asking about you, it just pisses me off!"

In closing, Alex wanted to fire one bullet that would make Elena's heart explode and shatter. "Go away and never come back. I'm disgusted with you!"

Elena left while slamming the door hard, she couldn't hold back her tears, until the tears fell making her vision blurry.

David was right, meeting Alex would only make her cry. All of Alex's words were like a knife that pierced directly into her heart, making her feel suffocated and in pain.

Alex didn't feel pity for her at all, on the contrary, he seemed to be very pleased to hurt Elena's feelings and bring her down mentally.

Elena left, half running, leaving the place, and then went upstairs to return to her apartment.

"I swear, you'll never be able to see your child, Alex! You'll regret it!"
