Hold On! I Got Three Alpha Mates?

Chapter Five

Amber's POV

The morning come and went in a blur. At first, Lena and I were excited in the morning hoping we would meet our significant others soon.

We had even worn our best dresses and dressed better even though we were bound to work the ceremony since we were omegas.

But as the hours rolled by, it became apparent that it was not coming anytime soon and our hope began to shatter into bits.

It was evening already and the bonfire was set up already. There were a lot of people coming out of their homes to watch and join the ceremony.

"There are a lot of people attending this time around." I couldn't help but voice out as I watched the crowd troop towards the main field where the bonfire would be held.

Lena also looked over. She nodded in agreement. "There are indeed a lot of people. I think it's because the witch will also come of age today. They are probably here to see if she and the alpha will become mates."

She was right. Sophie like us was eighteen too and would come of age today.

And everyone suspected, including me, that she would be the Alpha's mate. After all, she was the most eligible young woman in the pack.

"Let's go. The ceremony is starting soon." Lena spoke at that moment, jolting me out of my thoughts.

I looked at her and smiled, which she returned. She grasped my hand and we began walking toward the crowd.

The ceremony usually starts with transformation. Most werewolves transform when they are eighteen. And like the others, I had also transformed.

It had been a hell of an experience on my first transformation. But, I was used to it now.

The moon was beginning to appear. It rolled out of the dark clouds in its full form shining its bright light on us.

"It's time," I said as I looked at Lena.

"Hey." Someone suddenly called out from behind us and both Lena and I looked toward the speaker.

It was Leo.

He was one of our friends and he was an omega like us although he was older. He hadn't found his mate though.

"Hi, Leo." I greeted and Lena also waved as he walked up to us.

He smiled at us before taking a seat beside us. "How is it going?"

"Not good." Lena drawled immediately, as though she had been waiting all day to complain.

Leo shook his head and gave a small laugh. "I know how it feels. Been there."

"Do you think we may not find our mates today, Leo?"

He pursed his lips for a moment and breathed out. "No one can say for sure whether you will or not. Don't overthink and just enjoy the moment."

Beside me, Lena mumbled under her breath, "How do we enjoy the moment when we are unsure whether we would find out mates or not?"

I looked at Leo. "Leo, how did you feel when you couldn't find yours last year?"

He turned to me and there was a slight change in his expression. He seemed downcast and I realized I had brought up a touchy subject.

"Sorry." I felt insensitive and stupid for saying that.

But, he shook his head at me. And, he sighed. "It's not you. I just remembered how bad those days were. When I had to watch my friends getting along with their mates and I didn't have mine."

He shifted in his seat and looked intently at Lena and me. "If you don't find your mate, don't let it bug you. It's not the end of the world. I was once very bothered about it too. Until I found him."

"And... He rejected me."

My mouth fell open in shock and without even looking, I knew Lena had the same reaction as I did.

Leo had a mate? And... he was male?

I could tell that my eyes were also widened as I asked in disbelief, "You have a mate? Then, why did you say you didn't have one?"

"Yes. Why did you hide it?" Lena chirped in.

It was quite surprising. Everyone believed Leo hadn't found his mate. But who knew he had found him?

To my surprise though, Leo shrugged.

He voiced, "I didn't hide it. No one bothered to ask. You all just believed I didn't find my mate."

Oh. Right.

None of us asked and we simply concluded ourselves.

"So why did he reject you?" Lena suddenly asked, seemingly more invested in the conversation.

"I don't know," Leo replied casually. But, anyone could see from the pain in the depth of his gaze that he was hurt. "Maybe because I am an omega."

I reached out to pat him on the shoulder. And in return, he flashed me a small smile.

Then, he smiled widely. "You girls should enjoy the day. Not only is it your eighteenth birthday, but it is also the day you meet your wolves for the first time. It is a joyous occasion."

And, he was right.

We had to enjoy it to the fullest as it was one of the days we get to take a break.

"Alright, we will."

"Okay. See you, girls, later." Leo said as he waved and sauntered off into the distance to talk to other people.

Beside me, Lena blew a heavy sigh and I couldn't help but look at her.

"What's wrong?"

"One man down. I just hope Calyx is not any of our mates." Lena replied.

I snorted upon hearing her words. Calyx was the second omega. So that was still her focus.

I scooted closer to her and wrapped an arm around her neck.

"Why are you laughing?" She squirmed in my embrace and muttered in embarrassment seeing that I was laughing at her.

"I'm not laughing at you." I looked back at the center of the field. The crowd had grown even larger than before and I could see some of the important figures in the pack arriving.

"Let's just enjoy the ceremony, girl," I said to her.

The party was going well, omitting Sophie and her clique trying to stay relevant and acting like bitches all around.

Lena and I were dancing to the rhythm of the music being played by the DJ. It was a rock beat and Lena and I was dancing, grinding against each other playfully as we laughed.

Suddenly, I felt a strong smell pervade my nose. I didn't care about it and continued to dance while Lena rolled her hips as she danced beside me.

Just then, the crowd around us began to quieter slowly and only the heavy best could be heard. Everyone was looking in one direction and I couldn't help but look too.

I saw three figures approaching us. I could immediately tell that it was the triplet alphas.

It was quite surprising to see them as none of them usually attended the parties.

'Could it be they are here for Sophie?' I thought, looking in her direction.

She seemed to have sighted them too for she paused and her face had a wide smile on it.

It was her.

Of course, who else could be the mate of such outstanding men amongst any of us?

I paused to look at them and Lena asked, grabbing my arm. "What's wrong?"

I didn't reply to her because my attention was no longer on her as I noticed something about the three men.

They were sniffing around the crowd, forcing everyone to make way for them as they walked. But, they didn't seem to find what they were looking for.

I looked in the direction they were approaching and saw Sophie standing there already. Her smile was even wider.

Of course.

But just then, I saw them walk past her and suddenly looked toward me, their gazes fixated on me.

My heart stopped for a moment.
