The pounding on the door made my heart lurch. I clung to Asher, breath caught in my throat, until a voice hissed through the crack: “It’s me. Let me in. Now.” Mira. Asher opened the door just enough for her to slip through. She looked like she’d run the whole way—hair wild, cheeks flushed, eyes darting over her shoulder. “Lock it,” she whispered. Asher did. She pressed her back to the door, trying to catch her breath. “Kade’s lost it,” she said, voice low and hoarse. “He’s got all the enforcers with him. They’re searching every hallway, every bathroom.
