ASHER’S POV The whole academy felt tense after the fight with that brat. could sense it in the way people moved—more cautious, eyes darting, whispers dying as I passed. It didn’t matter. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I’d do worse if it meant keeping Lila safe. I was finishing up weight training when I saw Kade waiting for me by the gym doors, arms crossed, jaw set. The overhead lights made his face look even harder, cold as stone. He didn’t bother with small talk. “You and I need to talk. Now.” The room emptied out quick. Even the toughest guys cleared out the second they saw Kade blocking my path. I tossed my towel over my shoulder, not breaking stride as I walked up to him.
