I blinked. The Moon Goddess was gone. Just like that. Vanished into thin air.
The silver garden faded. The jasmine scent was gone. My head throbbed, like someone was hammering inside my skull. My feet ached, too, like I’d been running for days. The cave came back into focus. Cold stone under my hands. The glowing carvings dimmed, but their warmth lingered in my fingertips.
I wasn’t in paradise anymore. I was back in reality.
And reality was loud. Too loud.
Growls echoed outside the cave. Claws scraped against rock. The fight hadn’t stopped. Not even close. My heart jumped into my throat. Asher. My mate. He was out there, fighting for me. For us.
