I was studying when the slip of paper fell from between the pages of an old textbook Mira had lent me.
The coded note was small, no bigger than my palm, and covered in strange symbols and scribbles.
My heart skipped.
I stared at it, trying to make sense of the coded message. My fingers trembled as I traced the jagged lines.
It was a warning—clear if you knew how to read it—something about spies lurking near the academy.

The book had been with me for quite a number of days now, but I hadn't come across this note.
