For the first time in my life, I had to do one thing because it really mattered to someone. I walked up to Ann, and I was ready to explain everything to her. She really deserved an explanation, and I was going to do just that. “Hey Ann”, I said, as I got to where she was.
She raised her face and looked at me. All I could see in her eyes was a friend who was feeling betrayed. Yes, I just called her a friend because she actually proved she is a friend from the little things she does.
“Vanessa, I heard you're leaving. I actually saw your husband, the man who came here with Jeremy to get a drink, several times” she said. I could sense pain embedded in her tone.
“Ann, this is actually complicated. I could actually explain to you, but you would not understand”, I said.
“I won't understand that you've lied to me since we've been working together,” she replied. I have never seen Ann express such an amount of rage.
“He proposed to me earlier today, but he didn't tell me about resigning here”, I said. I didn't want to go into the details with her. It was better to keep it all to myself.
“So you're trying to tell me that he just got into your life, and he is already changing some rules in your life?” She asked. This lady here is really asking me questions that seem really hard to answer.
“I guess he is obviously a really caring man. You take care, I've got to go now” I said as I made an attempt to leave. Ann didn't hesitate to pull me into her open arms for a hug.
“I'm going to miss you” she said as she sobbed softly on my shoulder. I patted her back softly and made her stop crying. She sniffled and looked at me with heavy eyes. “I'll say it was fun getting to know you” she said with a soft smile.
“You're a perfect friend, Ann” I replied. I placed a kiss on her forehead and left. That was actually the last time I stepped foot into that bar.
I walked back home because I wanted to spend time on the streets while walking back. It is funny how my life just changed within twelve hours.
This is something I never planned to happen, but I guess you never have a say concerning whatever happens in your life. Jerry just walked into my life, and right now, I feel he is gradually forcing his way through to becoming the boss of my life.
When I got home, I threw myself on the bed, and that was it for the day. I opened my eyes to a new day.
Obviously, I had expectations for the new day. I was going to go to the hospital and take a look at what they were going to do about Mum's treatment. The doctor was going to start today.
And there the doorbell goes. I don't know why I can't just have a moment of quiet alone in my house. I murmured as I walked slowly to the door to check who was angrily pushing my doorbell.
I opened the door, and there was a stranger accompanied by someone who looked like a bodyguard. There was an SUV parked right behind them. “Greetings ma'am, I believe this is Vanessa's house?” He asked in a very polite manner.
“Yes, and you are?” I asked curiously. I was not expecting such visits, so I had a look of confusion on my face.
“I am Mr. George, a driver assigned to you today,” he said with a soft smile. I still don't get it.
“I never asked for a driver” I replied with utter confusion, edged on my face.
“Yeah you didn't. I am actually Mr. Jerry's driver. I guess that name rings a bell” he said. While we were talking, his bodyguard walked right into my house without waiting for any permission.
“You're going to do me the favor of leaving my house at this moment, or I’d call the cops on you both”, I threatened. This is really getting out of hand.
“We're so sorry ma'am, but we are working under strict instructions. The bodyguard walked out of my room carrying my box of clothes. I watched them walk straight to the car and throw them all into the car's trunk.
“I deserve to know what is going on” I yelled at the top of my voice. But I guess my words meant nothing to them as the bodyguard disrespectfully lifted me and placed me on his shoulder as he walked to the car. He carried me like I was as light as a feather.
“You both should start talking. Help!!” I yelled, but they both definitely paid ears to me. The driver turned on the car and started driving to a place I was not aware of.
They were not giving me any attention or answers, so I decided to keep quiet and sit back as I saw where they were taking me to. The driver slowed down as he got to a very big mansion.
This is not an overstatement because this building was blinded with luxury, starting from the gateway to the decoration of the building. The driver literally just had to put a password on the pad that's I was right in front of the gate, and the gate was pushed open without the help of anyone.
The car was parked in the garage, and the bodyguard pulled me into the house. The interior of the house was decorated with so many esthetics and some other luxurious accessories. The bodyguard carefully kept me on the sofa in the sitting room and stood right next to me like he was waiting for somebody.
I waited patiently, and the silence was broken by the footsteps of a young man walking down the stairs. I looked curiously to see who it could be. I don't know whether I was kidn*pped or I was in the right place. There was only one way to find out.
