MATE TO THE ENEMY'S DAUGHTER

The beginning

The cold evening breeze cools the earth and also makes the trees dance to the waves of  it. The evening moon is now settled in the sky, brightening up the earth and giving light to all that desire it. Alpha Drake was seen in his chamber seated on a couch and he had a book in his hand.

His door flipped open and he quickly raised his head from the book to see his Beta Alex standing at the entrance of his room. "Good evening Alpha." Beta Alex greeted him with a smile plastered on his face as he walked towards where Alpha Drake was seated.

"Good evening Alex, how are you doing?" Drake asked him.

"I'm fine, Alpha," he replied as he walked closer to the couch. He had his seat beside him on the couch and turned to him.

They both started talking about random things about the pack when a knock came into the door again. Alpha Drake wondered who it was again that was knocking. "Who's there?" Alpha Drake asked.

"It's me Alpha, I brought great news." Alpha Drake heard one of his guards speak from outside, and immediately recognized the voice.

"Come in." Alpha Drake ordered. He remembered he had sent some of the guards to investigate the group that had killed his parents and right now he was sure that the guard outside his door right now had some information about the group that had killed his parents.

It's been a few years since his parents and only sibling were murdered in cold blood by some group and ever since then he has been trying all he could to find those groups and bring them to justice, but until now he still hasn't gotten any clue to them. Since his parents and sister's death he has never remained the same. He was away from the pack when the group came and killed some of the pack members and also killed his parents along with them. He was so sad when he came back from where he had been and was told that his parents and sibling had been murdered. He was so broken and devastated. He mourned them for so many days. But he vowed to look for those groups and kill them one after the other. So now, he was still searching and he hoped to finally find them someday. He wouldn't give up, no matter how long it would take him. He would find them and kill them all,so his parents and siblings would finally find rest where they are.

The guard opened the door and walked into the room. They both immediately and greeted him again. "Just go ahead with the news you have brought. I am not in for your greetings please." Alpha Drake said,

" OK, Alpha, actually we have finally found the leader of the group that killed your parents and siblings." The guard spoke up, and immediately Alpha Drake felt at peace.

"Wow, that's a good thing. Please tell me more. What else did you discover? And who is the leader?" Alpha Drake asked.

"Well Alpha, the leader of the group is Alpha Callan of the Blue valley pack." The guard said,

"Oh good, go and gather some of the armies we are storming the valley pack tonight." Alpha Drake commanded.

"Yes Alpha." The guard bowed in respect and walked out of his room.

Alpha Drake turned back to his Beta who was sitting beside him all this while. He didn't say a word all through when the guard was there. "Alex, did you hear that, I will finally be able to give my parents and siblings the justice they deserve tonight." Alpha Drake said, with a smile plastered on his face.

"But Alpha, don't you think it's too early to jump into conclusion and attack the valley pack?" Beta Alex asked.

"I don't understand? What do you mean by that?" Alpha Drake asked.

"I mean,we aren't really sure yet that they were really the ones that killed your parents,or Alpha Callan was actually the leader of the group that killed your parents and siblings." Beta Alex explained.

"I'm sure they were actually the one that killed my parents and siblings, because those guards have been in this case for a long time now and they can't just jump to a conclusion without being such,so I'm sure they have investigated  fully before coming to me,so get ready let's prepare to strike." Alpha Drake said,

"As you wished Alpha." Beta Alex bowed and stood up on his feet, and was about to walk out, but Alpha Drake stopped him and told him to wait for him in the sitting room and he wanted them to leave together. Beta Alex nodded in agreement without saying any word before he finally stepped out of Alpha Drake's chamber.

Meanwhile, Alpha Drake also stood up from his seat and got dressed into something more suitable for war. He was so happy and that he was going to bring the murders of his parents and sibling to justice tonight and finally have the rest of mind that he had been longing for all these years. He could really help but miss his parents and siblings. They were actually all he had in the world and they were the very best family anyone could ever wish for. All the time he has spent with them he has always been that happy fellow, but since they were murdered he hasn't been able to find any happiness again. All his days were filled with sadness, but he was only trying to be strong and lead his people because his father had always prepared him for that.

If he had known that he would leave the pack that day for the conference he was invited to, that his parents and sibling would be killed, he wouldn't have bothered to attend. He was actually having a double mind about attending the conference but his father had insisted that he went.  And he went but only for him to return to his parents and siblings' dead bodies the next morning. And since then, his life has been a mess. He could only hope to find happiness again with the mate that the moon goddess would bless him with. He was actually an Alpha and his people have also talked about him finding Luna and becoming a little happiness again. But he had insisted that he wasn't really going to get a Luna yet and he would only do that once he had succeeded in bringing his parents' killers to justice, then he could think of  searching for his Luna.

Alpha Drake walked over to his drawer and drew it open. He picked up his family's photo and stared at it for a while. "Dad,mom and Sarah, I have finally found your killers and I'm going now to give them a taste of their own medicine and give you all the rest that you truly need." He spoke to the photo and hugged it in his body. He remained that way for a while before he finally took it away from his body and kissed it before returning it back into the drawer and he shut it back. He turned around and walked out of his room.

Meanwhile, all this while Beta Alex waited for him in the sitting room and immediately he got in Beta Alex stood up and they both started walking out of the house. First they both went straight to the army's territory to meet them. They were all still prepared already and, without wasting much time, they all set off for the Blue valley pack. Alpha Drake told the guard that brought the information to lead the way and he happily did.

Valerie and Laura, her best friend, were standing together  at the back of the forest and they were prepared for their daily race. Every night they are both always going over to the beak of the forest to race. Valarie really enjoyed that part of the night. She always wished for night to come as soon as possible so she would be able to go for the race with her best friend. During the day she was always busy working and working and didn't have time for fun like all her mates. She was actually eighteen years old and she was the first daughter of Alpha Callan, but despite the fact she was an Alpha's daughter, she was given most of all the work in the house by her mother, Luna Fae, even though they were maids in the house. Luna Fae would always tell her she was given that work because she didn't want her to be a lady and she was sure that the moon goddess was going to bless her with an Alpha as her mate. So she has to be strong enough to become the Luna of her own pack.

At first she would always complain about the hard work, but now she was now used to it and not see it as something difficult anymore. She loves her family and she is happy to have them as her family.

"Laura, are you ready for this today?" Valerie asked, smiling.

"Yes, I should be asking you. Are you ready to come second again, because I know I will definitely come first as always." Laura giggled.

"I'm so ready, and I won't be giving up anytime soon. I'm very ready today, and I will definitely take the first position tonight." Valerie spoke in her defence.

"Hmm," Laura exhaled. "We will see about that." Laura said,

"Yes,so let's begin now, I'm so excited," Valerie told her.

" OK," Laura replied, and they both got set to race, but just then Valerie saw a movement in the bushes and a heavy breathing followed.

"Did you hear that?" Valerie asked, tapping Laura softly and taking her attention towards that direction.

"Yes I can hear that." Laura said, a little scared. 

"I think we should hide ourselves immediately," Valerie suggested.

"Yes, come with me." Laura said, and they both walked to a hidden bush path and hid themselves and waited patiently to see what was coming in their direction.

"Valerie.. Valerie.. Valerie, where are you?" Valerie heard Eric's voice calling to her. And she slowly walked out of the bush path with Laura behind her as she walked towards Eric where he was standing. 

"Eric, what are you doing here?" Valerie asked, and breathed out in relief, seeing it was her brother.

"Mum asked me to get you," he replied.

"Why would she send you here to me alone, when she knows that it was already so late?" Valerie sighed, frustrated with the sudden call.

"Mum didn't just send for you. Something is happening back at home." Eric said,

"Wait, what are you talking about?" Valerie asked with a raise of brows.

"Dad was having a meeting with some of his council members when he heard screams coming from outside the house. We all rushed outside and saw that the pack was under attack. That was why Mum sent me here. And She wants you to come with me immediately." He explained sadly,  he looked like he was going to break down in tears any moment.

"What!" Valerie exclaimed in shock, and Laura wasn't left out.

"We need to go right now." Laura urged us.

"Yes let's get going." Valerie added, and held Eric's hand as they all raced home, just as they got to the pack. They saw all the houses on fire, and some of the pack members ran past them and headed out of the pack without bothering to stop when they saw them.

They walked further into the park and they saw people crying and holding their loved ones in their hands. By then, tears also clouded Valerie's eyes as she saw more people mourning for their dead loved ones as she continued walking.

"I think I should go and search for my family right now, while you just go ahead." Laura said, and turned towards her own direction as Valerie held onto her brother tightly as they both continued walking.

They walked further searching for their parents. But she stopped halfway when she saw the brutal  Alpha holding her Alpha Callan,her father by the neck.  Alpha Callan was actually trying to release himself, but  Alpha Drake held on to him and was no match for Alpha Drake.

"Father," Valerie screamed, with tears pouring down her cheeks, and immediately she  felt her mate bond with Alpha Drake, who was still holding Alpha Callan tightly by the neck as he kept strangling him. And Alpha Drake was holding on to the murder of his parents and sibling and also started feeling his bond-mate too. He slowly turned to her and a Lily scent hit his nostrils and he released Alpha Callan from his grip and he  fell down on the ground almost lifeless.

"Oh no, you are my mate," Alpha Drake  yelled in annoyance. And his facial expressions turned red. And all his armies who were present there also saw this and felt sad immediately for their Alpha. Because they knew he wouldn't want to fight his mate's father even though he was the one that killed his family. They also stopped fighting immediately and went straight to their Alpha, who was still very angry at what had just happened.

Alpha Drake couldn't even look up at his mate anymore. He actually thought his mate would actually make him happy but now it was the other way round. His mate was a daughter of his parents' killer. His army came to him and they all started walking away. While Valerie and her brother rushed to Alpha, Callan, who was lying on the ground.

Alpha Drake and his army returned to their pack and followed Alpha Drake until he finally got to his house. Without wasting much time, Alpha Drake went into his house and headed straight to his chamber. He was so sad beyond compare as he thought of what had just happened throughout the night. How can the moon goddess decide to give him his family's killer daughter as his mate? All this while he was hoping to find happiness again and he had always thought it would come from his mate, whom he would love so much, but now the table had turned. 

He cursed the moon goddess and told himself that he would still go ahead and kill this mate and her family too because they did it first by eliminating his entire family. He slept off thinking about it.

Soon it was morning and he was up, but immediately his eyes opened. All that had happened came back into his mind and he started feeling so very bad all over again. How was he going to cope with such a mate? And why would the moon goddess ever think of mating him with that kind of cruel man's daughter? He kept asking himself those questions. But he can't simply answer the question by himself. He would need some to help him answer the question, but who would be able to answer such a question? He thought and sighed heavily before he slowly climbed down from his bed. He yawned and stretched himself before walking into his bathroom.

He just couldn't stop thinking about the whole thing. What was he going to do now, should he just forget about having a mate totally and go back to the Blue valley pack and kill his mate alongside her family too, as they didn't to his own family or what? 

Meanwhile, Valerie and her family were all seated together in their house. Valerie was with them before in the sitting room but decided to leave her chamber. None of them had any sleep last night because they were all still frightened that Alpha Drake and his armies would come back for them again. But actually, Alpha Callan wasn't too scared anymore, since he knew that Alpha Drake had known that he was a mate to Valarie and he was sure that he wouldn't kill his mate's family. That was why he released him immediately. He knew he was Valarie's father.

For sure, he knows that the Alpha Drake family wasn't the cruel type of people. He knew his family so well, especially his father, and he knew what they were capable of. He knows them to be strong but they are weak in heart, so he was less worried about Alpha Drake coming to kill him and his family as long as Valerie was there. He actually knew that day would come and he was already prepared for it. He was just waiting for it to happen just as he had planned, so now he would just sit back and wait for Drake to come back for his mate.

He has actually been trying all he could to get to Drake all these years, but now this was the best time. Alpha Callan was actually sitting with his wife on the same couch while Eric had also left for his chamber, so immediately Valarie left.

"Alpha, what is your plan now? Do you think he will just let it slide because Valarie is his mate or will he come back to hunt us down?" Luna Fae asked.

"I think he would let it slide." Alpha Callan answered.

"Why are you so sure? Please, I don't want any harm to come to us and our son."  She said,

"You don't have to worry about that, trust me, he will definitely be weak-hearted just like his father," Alpha Callan assured her.

" OK, I hope so, because if anything happens to our son, I will never forgive you." Luna Fae said,

"You don't need to get your all walked up, we have his mate here with us and she is fully on our side, so we need not to worry about anything." Alpha Callan assured his wife.

" OK, I hope so, but don't you think we should go and freshen up now? Besides, we have been here since last night." Luna Fae said,

"Yes, I think that's a good idea, we should probably do that now." Alpha Callan replied, and stood up on his feet as he walked out of the sitting room with Luna Fae beside him. Then both went into their chamber to freshen up.

Valarie was seated in her bed after having her bath, she was now dressed in different clothes. She recalled all that had happened yesterday. She couldn't believe she was a mate to a brutal Alpha like that. She has always hoped that her mate would be gentle and kind and not a brutal and cruel Alpha like the one she had met last night. There is no doubt that her mate was handsome and hot with the body of a Greek god because she could never accept such a brutal person as her mate. She wished the moon goddess would change that mate because she would never want to be anywhere close to him, because all she could see of him was a monster and nothing more. She would have to advise her parents that they should run away before he came back again, because he might likely return to kill them. She got up from her bed immediately and quickly went out of her room. She went into the sitting room in search of her parents but couldn't find them there. So she knew immediately they would be in their chamber. She knocked on their door and they asked her in.

She went in and brought up her suggestion of them fleeing from the pack before Alpha Drake returns to finish them up. But Alpha Callan assured her that he wouldn't come again to hurt them as long as he knows his mate is in their house. But she kept telling him she was scared of him coming there again to hurt them. And Alpha Callan told her not to worry about it, that they were not going to be hurt as long as she was his mate. Valerie gave up and left his parents' chamber but before she could go out, Luna Fae told her she was hungry and needed to eat breakfast. She just nodded before finally leaving.

She went straight to the kitchen to do as Luna Fae had asked her to do.  She was not actually expecting to get entangled with that kind of an Alpha. All her life, Luna Fae had always told her that she was going to be a mate to an Alpha and somehow she felt happy and couldn't wait to finally meet her mate. But now that she had finally seen her mate, she wished for a change. As she cooked breakfast her mind was still troubled. What if his so -called mate returned again today? What would happen? And what if her mate came and asked to take her away with him to his pack? Would her father really give her up to him? Those questions popped into her head and she wished to know the answer to them. She hoped that her father wouldn't think of giving her up to the cruel Alpha because she couldn't bear to stay with a wicked person. She already feels so bad that the monster happened to be her mate and him coming back to take her shouldn't just happen because she just can't stand it.

Valerie was finally done cooking after a while. She dished out the food into a big bowl and took it to the dining room. She returned to the kitchen to take up some dishes and cutlery and took them over to the dining room again. She finally set the table and went over to get her parents down for breakfast. After calling them, she proceeded to also get her younger brother now. She also served them at the dining table and sat down to eat. After breakfast, she cleared out the dishes as the other people returned to their various chambers.  She didn't wash the dishes and returned to where they belong. But as she did all that, her mind kept going towards the direction of her monster mate coming to take her to live with him, but she just tried her best to push the thought away.

A WEEK LATER

Alpha Drake was seen in his chamber sitting on the couch. He had been thinking of this mate being the daughter of his parents all this while and he had been confused about what more to do. He doesn't know if he should go ahead and kill her alongside her family or kill her family and spare just her. He has been battling with those thoughts but has finally come up with a solution and a decision. He was going to spare the life of her family because of her and he was going to go over to the Blue valley pack and take her back with him. Besides, it was high time he had his Luna besides him but he would just have her there with him as his Luna and nothing more. He can't really bring himself to love a daughter of a murderer. 

He couldn't really bring himself to kill his family because his wolf was totally against it. He actually cursed the moon goddess for giving him a mate like Valerie based on what her father had done to his family. But he would just let it slide because that is what his wolf wanted and he couldn't go against his wolf because it would always trouble him. So he just has to please his wolf. 

Soon, Alpha Drake made arrangements with his Beta the next day for them to go and take his mate from the Blue valley pack. His wolf was actually troubling him and he just couldn't take it anymore, so he had to do it.

The day finally came and Alpha Drake and Beta Alex went over to the Blue valley pack. They went over to Alpha Callan's house and were welcomed in by Luna Fae. She made them sit and asked the maid to serve them what they needed while she went to call Alpha Callan.

Soon they were all seated together in the sitting room. And Alpha Drake told Alpha Callan that he was actually there to take his mate home now. Alpha Callan sighed and asked Luna Fae to go and get Valarie now.

Luna Fae stood up immediately from where she was seated besides Alpha Callan and went over to Valarie's chamber. She knocked out her door. 

"Yes, who's there please," Valerie asked from inside her chamber. She was actually holding a book in her hand and was lying in her bed while she was busy reading the book.

"It's me, can I come in?" Luna Fae asked.

"Mum,yes, of course you can come in." Valerie said, realizing it was Luna Fae at the door.

She quickly opened the door and walked into her room. Valerie sat up on her bed and immediately saw Luna Fae walking towards her and dropping the book in her hand too. She was actually surprised that Luna Fae was in her room because she knew that Luna Fae must have an important thing to tell her. If not, she would have just sent one of the maids to come and call her. 

Luna Fae sat at the edge of her bed and turned to her. "Valerie, the day that we are all waiting for has finally arrived." She said,

"Mum, I don't understand, what are you talking about?" Valerie asked curiously.

"Well, Valerie, your mate is finally here to take you with him." Luna Fae said,

"Wait a minute,mum, what are you talking about?" Valerie asked, finally it was hard to believe what she had just heard.

"Yes dear, he has finally come to take you with him back to his pack." Luna Fae said,

"Please mum, don't tell me that monster that tried killing dad the other day is here?" Valarie asked, and this time tears clouded her eyes.

"Yes, he said, he would spare us because of you and he is now in the sitting room ready to take you." Luna Fae said,

"Mum,no way I can't go with that monster, please don't let him take me." Valarie cried, holding on to Luna Fae's hand, as her tears flowed freely down her cheeks.

"Wait a minute, he is really waiting for us, let's go first before anything else." Luna Fae said, not minding the fact that her tears were already flowing down. She didn't even try to console her.

"Mum, I don't want to go out of my chamber, please go and tell him that." Valerie said,

"No don't say that, just wipe your tears and come with me, we can talk about that later. He is still waiting, and I don't want to keep him waiting. You know how deadly he can be." Luna Fae told her. 

" OK mum, I will be there shortly. Let me just wash these tears from my face." Valerie said,

" OK, but remember don't keep him waiting." Luna Fae warned, before standing up from her bed where she had been sitting and started walking out of her chamber. 

Luna Fae went back to the sitting room and sat beside her husband. "She will be here shortly." She said, and Alpha Drake and Beta Alex nodded as they all waited for Valarie to come.

Meanwhile, Valerie was in her bathroom. She tried to stop her tears from flowing down her eyes and washed them off immediately before taking a towel to dry her face. She sighed and slowly walked out of her chamber. Soon she arrived at the sitting room and her eyes caught sight of two handsome-looking men. One of them was more handsome and tall than the body of a Greek god. While the other was a little good looking, but can't be compared to the tall one. 

"Dad, I'm here," Valarie managed to say.

"Here she is,so you can please repeat what you said earlier to her again." Alpha Callan said, and Alpha Drake cleared his throat and turned to her.

"I'm here to take you with me to my pack." Alpha Drake said, but Valerie remained quiet as she stood there. She felt like tearing up immediately but she just tried to control herself.

Alpha Drake waited patiently for her to say something but she wasn't saying anything. "Ok then, since you are silent that means you don't have anything to say,so you can go in there and pack your bags,so we can leave." He said,

"I don't want to go with you, father, please tell him not to take me away." Valarie cried and this time her tears were now flowing down her cheeks. 

"Alpha Drake, please can you please come back for her tomorrow, today is just not the right time please." Alpha Callan said,

"Hmmm," Alpha Drake exhaled. "I don't know, give me a minute." Alpha Drake sighed, and called his Beta as they both went outside.

Beta Alex advised him to allow her to stay just today, since she was so emotional right now, and come back for her in the morning. Alpha Drake decided to just accept his opinion and they both went back in.

" OK, I have decided to allow her to stay for today, but I will be back first thing tomorrow morning to take her,so you better help her put her emotions in check before I return tomorrow morning." Alpha Drake warned. 

"Alright,we will do just that." Alpha Callan assured him. 

Alpha Drake didn't bother to spend any more time there as he stood up and walked out with Beta Alex behind him. They went back to their pack. Immediately they both entered the pack, they went their ways
