8. Restroom Gossips

Was Rose really excited about this?
Alice shook her head and chuckled as she realized what was going on, yet sighed in relief upon realizing Rose wasn't planning anything dangerous.
Who knew one could get the high about eavesdropping on their employees, but then, Rose had always been peculiar about her approach to things.
Alice locked her cubicle, closed the lid on the toilet and sat comfortably, listening to those that came and went.
Most of the women went in to touch their makeup and do a little bit of gossip.
"I love your dress!"
"You look absolutely stunning girl!"
"You look in the mirror and tell that to yourself."
"Did you see Vanessa's dress?" one voice said and two others laughed.
"Seriously. Did she wear her Halloween dress or something?" Another said, and the others laughed.
"Someone needs to tell her orange is not her color."
Not long after, the girls went out.
"Does any one of you have a pad or tampon?" Someone anxiously asked her group. "I think I might be staining my pants right at this moment."
"Don't worry girl, I got you!" The other said, presumably taking out one of the two and handing it to the other, who threw a "thanks" and quickly rushed into the cubicle next to Alice.
"I always carry a tampon with me. I can't risk some blood getting in the way of a good night!"
"Period!" The other girl, who had been silent until now, said, and the two laughed.
"Seeing Bruno looking so hot in a tux makes me want to ask him out right away!" a woman fanned herself with her hands.
"I would go for it!"
"Go girl!"
Her two friends cheered her on.
"I tell you, dating a cop worker is the worst thing you could do! You don't want to be a Mark and Stacey!" another stated.
"What is this Mark and Stacey everyone keeps mentioning?" the girl interested in Bruno asked.
"Oh, haven't you heard?"
"It's because you started working not long ago."
"Oh my, that was the nastiest breakup ever."
"Stacey even had to quit her job."
"I would never!" another shivered.
Soon, all of their voices started to fade as they exited the toilet and Alice was starting to think that they would never get to hear anything more than a little gossip when some voices came in.
"One could totally tell that those shoes were fake."
"I know right, how could she ever afford the real deal?"
"Guys, I think it's original. Didn't you hear she got herself a rich sugar daddy?"
"Such a b*tch! How shameless!"
"Oh my God, she really gets on my nerves."
"Did you see the CEO?"
"She and her secretary looked like runway models."
"Nah, I would say her secretary looked more like an actress. Her features are much softer. But the CEO?"
"She's totally my type!"
"Right, she was dressed in designer clothes from head to toe."
"And her speech was so powerful!"
"Right? I know I would faint in front of all those people."
"Whoever planned this whole thing did an excellent job."
"I tell you, I cannot wait for the next event!"
"Next is the employee recognition event, right?"
"To collect an award from and stand close to Miss Gabrielle is to die for! I worked hard just to get the chance to take a picture with her."
"I wonder who she got her genes from. I hear her grandparents, the original founders, were really good-looking."
"Too bad she has no one left now..." Their voices had now faded away, indicating that they had left the toilet and Alice was about ready to exit her cubicle, happy with Rose's decision and satisfied with the compliments they had gotten when she was suddenly halted by a voice saying:
"Powerful my ass, I could totally do better than that," some voice snorted. Her lips smacked against each other before she smiled innocently at the mirror, satisfied with her lipstick.
One could hear the click of her heels slowly fading away as she exited the bathroom and, once again, Alice was about to exit her cubicle when she heard another voice.
"Oh my God, I really can't stand that 'pick me'." Erin grimaced at her own reflection in the mirror as she retouched her makeup. "Did you see the way she kept attaching herself to Declan? I am a fan of Declan and all, but I still can't wrap my head around how quickly Declan is getting promoted and all. And the lead of his own team at that. Didn't he get employed along with the rest of us? I don't know, I just..." Erin sighed." Well it's not so surprising. I hear his uncle is one of the CEO's right-hand men and that they do all her job for her."
"Nepotism and sh*t. It's no wonder, though, didn't she get everything handed to her on a platter just because she was the only heir? She likely got everything she wanted to be served to her on a platter without having to break a sweat over it, just like this multi-million dollar company. But people like us have to work hard and grovel at their feet to get anywhere in life. Life is so unfair."
"Tell me about it!" Erin rolled her eyes, putting her makeup back in her purse before checking the time on her phone. "Oh my, Kim! It's almost time for the employee award. Come on, let's go. Hopefully I get an award or two."
"You wish!" Kim laughed and followed her friend out.
For a few seconds, Alice was at a loss about what to do. Things definitely took a turn from what she was expecting, and she believed neither was Rose expecting that. Slowly, she heard the lock from the opposite cubicle being opened before the sound of Rose's heels echoed in the now empty toilet.
Alice came out right after, but before she could say anything, Rose, who now had a deadly look in her eyes, spoke.
"Kim, was it? I want you to get me some information on the girl by tomorrow," Rose said icily.
"You want me to fire her?" Alice asked, hoping that would be the end of it.
"Fire her?" Rose laughed dryly. "You know I don't do things the easy way. She could have called me a b*tch for all I cared. But someone who had everything served to her on a platter?" Rose mumbled the last part to herself angrily before storming out of the bathroom.
"What are you going to do if you do not fire her?" Alice asked hesitantly.
"I have a better idea," Rose said, her eyes gleaming brighter with mischief. "I am going to put her in the same position as myself, and then watch as she slowly crumbles and looses herself!"
Rose nodded, satisfied with her own remark before going out of the toilet, leaving a stunned Alice behind.
