I Can Fly

983 Words
John was still in pain from the scratch given to him by Cerberus with his claws. He slowly picked himself up and thanked the lady who saved him from the hellish creature in the name of Cerberus. The lady was dressed in a white flowing gown. Her molten-red hair flowed over her shoulders. Her lips were candy sweet lips and glossy skin. She had a sculpted figure which was twine-thin. She turned to face John displaying her shiny, halo-white teeth as she spoke in a soothing voice. “You must be John. John Willie, from the world beyond.” “My name is John Willie and I am from New York not from the world beyond.” At this time, John was able to see the resemblance from the statue he saw at Ozenzo’s castle. There’s not much difference between the statue and the lady standing before him, except that the statue can’t move an inch. She moved towards Neena with boldness, “You must be the witch Neena,” he said. His back still hurts but he decided to act up as though he feels no pain. The woman before him is nothing close to his ex when it comes to appearance and beauty. He sees her as goodness due to her beauty. “Yes I am Neena,” she replied with a smile. “I learned that you are the first witch that walked the earth. Perhaps you could help me with the answers that I seek.” “The best way to survive is to stop looking for answers.” “I don’t believe that,” John argued. To him, the best way to survive is to seek answers and then find a way back to his world. “The reason you nearly ended up dead, is because you have been seeking answers since you got here and Cerberus nearly tore you to shreds.” Neena walked closer to John, she grinned at him saying, “Turn around.” As John turned around without asking any question, she placed her palm on John’s wound. Out of her palm came forth a bright light that shuns into John’s wound, healing him completely. Instantly, John stopped feeling pains as he began reaching out to his back but he couldn’t feel the cuts. He gave Neena a wide-eyed surprise, “I never believed in magic,” he said in a refined voice. “How about now?” “I must confess, certainly, there is magic and I just witnessed it.” “I don’t have much time to spend with you. I was told by the warlocks Cerberus killed that you were still with him, so I came as soon as I could. You have to return to Ozenzo. You don’t belong to the gods.” “I don’t belong to anyone here. I just want to get home and live my normal life.” “You mean the life of failure and getting dumped by your girlfriend and losing your job?” John fixed a searing gaze at Neena. “Thanks for reminding me of all that. Either way, I still need to go back to my world.” “Your destiny lies in the path you chose to walk. I can help you,” said Neena as she conjured a red orb and released it to float towards John. John wasn’t familiar with what was happening as the orb floated towards him. The orb entered John's body and slammed him to the ground. It was as if an invisible force slammed him away but he was certain he was slammed by the orb. He looked around and couldn’t see the orb as he dragged himself to his feet. He looked around again and Neena was nowhere to be found. He couldn’t make any sense of what just happened. The sun was blazing and Cerberus was released, he’s no longer suspended in the air. As he was about to turn the other way, Cerberus was standing next to him, “Oh s**t!” he cried out. “We have unfinished business,” Cerberus roared as he pounced at John again. With his serpentine tail gone, he opened his mouth wide to bite John with his fangs, a bright light shun out from John’s body and slammed the hellish creature to a fig tree. “How in the hell did that happen?” John was filled with curiosity as he jumped to his feet. He wasn’t sure how it happened but he loved what just happened. Enraged with what just happened, Cerberus locked onto his target and started charging towards him. Before he could ram over John, John started to float in the air away from the hellish creature. “I can fly!” John yelled in excitement. His nightmare is becoming the type of nightmare he has always imagined. He has always wanted to fly without wings, whether in reality or in his dreams. How he got to this world is still a mystery to him and he needed to get to safety before he could figure out what to do next. All he can think of now is how to rest in a safe place where he wouldn’t be hunted by any fierce beasts or even the warlocks.  Cerberus never gave up easily as he started jumping to the trees to catch up with his target. The closer he gets to catch up with John, the further John floats away. “Come back here,” Cerberus cried as he started gasping for breath. As John continued to float away, he couldn’t control his move or direction. He thought his ordeal had ended but disappointedly he hit his face on one of the fig trees and fell. The fall was brutal as he kept hitting his back on the tree branches as he fell. To his greatest surprise, he felt no pain.
