Chapter twelve - First test and a big fight

2449 Words
Avery's POV: I offered Ashley to study with me after the tests. I have no idea why I did it. All I wanted was to get rid of her, not get close to her. She is no one but a nerd who is always studying. There is something in this girl that makes her different. She could've denied the offer and didn't help me. After all, it wasn't my decision. Part of me wants to keep her, but mostly I want to stay away from her. I won't become a good boy following the rules. I need to start training again. I paused the football, and that was a mistake. My grades shouldn't be that important. The thing is that I don't know how to do it. If my test results don't change with better ones, I won't be able to play. Sometimes, I think teachers hate me. Well, mister Fitz does it for sure. I would be surprised if he let me pass. Even if I have an A on my next test, I don't think he will let me go. There is something wrong with this man. He hates me for no reason. His class is not the only one in which I don't pay attention. I have always been like that. Soon my first test will come. Also, I have an upcoming game. I have too many things in such a short time. At least Ashley is helping me with my studies. I can ask her to play with me, but she is terrible. Finally, she learned how to catch a ball. It's not like this can help. This girl can't play football. Well, she hasn't tried. Let's say that she has other priorities. I'm glad that after the tests, we are over. I spent too much time with her. No offense to her, but we won't be friends. All of this is just business. I hope that after the tests, the teachers and my parents will leave me alone. All I want is to play football and nothing else. I don't want that much. Today is my first test. I have studied for it, but I don't know if I can answer every question correctly. Luckily, Ashley has studied with me. If I fail, she will do it too. I mean, we learned the same things. Let's hope none of us will get a low grade. My grades have to improve. I have no idea how this will happen, but I will do everything possible for it. I hope that all the work will be worth it. Otherwise, I wasted a whole month for nothing. That is not something I want to happen. I woke up and went to get ready for school. I checked my phone, and it was only 6:45. Well, I can train before I go to class. Usually, I use the field. No one comes so early in the morning. I took my things and walked out. As I expected, there was no one on the field. Fifteen minutes before the first class, I walked to my locker. Some of the boys were already there. - Hey, guys. - Where have you been? - Adam asked - Where he can be so early. - Jason said - I haven't trained in a while. - You can train with Ashley. - Ben said, chuckling - No way. She is terrible. This girl can barely catch a ball. - She can't be that bad. - Trust me. This girl is. - It looks like she is coming straight to you. - What? - Turn around. - Rayan said - Oh, hey, Ashley. - Don't hey me. - Ashley said - What? - Can I know why there were more than five hundred pictures of you in my hidden photos? - You find them now? - Usually, I don't check because my folder with hidden photos is empty. - I thought it was fun. - It's not fun at all. Also, you don't look good in pictures at all. - That was hot. - Adam said - Is this why you are here or do you want something else? - After the tests, I don't want to see you anymore. Understood? - You have to do it. We go to school every day. - I don't care. You won't talk to me anymore. - Are you mad about some pictures? - It's not only that. I found your autograph in every single notebook that I have. Will you stop going through my stuff? It's not funny. - For me is. I like to annoy you. - It looks like you will study for the test alone. I quit. - You can't do that. Otherwise, you will fail PE. - I won't. After all, you trained me for a while. I'm not that bad anymore. - Ashley, you can't leave me alone. We had a deal. - Only on words. It means nothing. - Come on. Don't be so dramatic. - I have the right to be. Some days you are good. On others, you play on my nerves. Why can't you be like your friends? - Excuse me. My friends have nothing to do with our conversation. - I am done with you. - No, you're not. I need you. - No, you need attention. Something that you won't have from me. - Seriously? I never thought you were such a drama queen. - Yes, I am. - Can we talk later? - That is our last talk. - Ashley said and left - What was all of that? - Ben asked - Leave her. She will come back in no time. - Why are you so sure? - I stole her phone. - You are unbelievable. - Jason said - It looks like she stole yours. - Rayan said - What? - Check your pocket, dumbo. - I will kill her. - I smell relationship. - Adam said - And I smell a fist in your face. - I said - Ok, chill. I walked to my first class. Ashley was sitting with a girl. Now she will see. I grabbed my phone from her hands and threw hers. Maybe it has cracked, but I don't care. She deserves it. I noticed how she looked at me, but I ignored her. Who knew she could be so annoying? Honestly, I'm glad she quit. I won't be able to stand her for the next week. On the lunch break, I went to eat with the boys. Ashley was there, but I ignored her again. Lately, she has been playing on my nerves. I don't know what to do with her anymore. At least my test passed. I think I did well. When the result comes, I will see how well I did it. I won't lie that Ashley helped, but I won't tell her anything. She doesn't deserve it. I took my tray and sat next to Ben. - Man, are you ok? - Jake asked - Yeah, why? - You look mad. - I'm fine. - Why do you and Ashley always have to argue about something? Can't you two understand each other? - She is annoying. I'm glad she quit. - You know she didn't mean it. Talk with her and fix things. - No, I won't do anything. - Ok, it's your choice. - How was the test? - Adam asked - It was ok. Not that hard. - You realize that it's thanks to Ashley, right? - I do, but I won't tell her anything. - I can't understand why you treat her that way. She didn't do anything to you. Instead, she helped you a lot. You can't deny that. - Let's say that I have personal reasons. - In her place, I would've quit a long time ago. - Jason said - Why is everyone on her side? - Because this time she didn't do anything. You are the one putting your bad mood on her. - If you want to be her friend, go and do it. I won't be part of that. - I said and left Lately, everyone has been against me. I don't know what I did wrong. After my last class, I walked to the field. We don't have practice today, but I want to do something productive. Otherwise, I will get mad at someone else. I took a ball and started throwing it around. It's boring to play alone. Well, right now, I don't want people around me. I threw the ball, and someone caught it. That was Ashley. What the heck is she doing here? I thought she quit. - Hey. - What are you doing here? I thought you quit. - I'm sorry. I shouldn't get mad at you. Can you forgive me? - No. - Why? - Because I don't want to see you. Now go away and leave me alone. - Please, don't be like that. I'll do whatever you say. - Everything? - Yes. - Then leave. - How was the test? I'm sorry that I couldn't help you. - It was ok. Will you leave me alone? - No, I won't. - Why? - Because I don't want to do it. - Ashley said and walked up to me - I don't know what games you play, but you better stop. - There is no game. All I want is to stop arguing with you. - That can happen if you leave me alone! - No! I don't want to do it! - Why are you so stubborn? - Why are you such a horrible person? - If you don't like me the way I am, leave. - Avery, please don't be like that. I don't want to hurt you. - Well, you are doing a great job at it. - What? - Leave. Otherwise, I will make you. - Fine. - she said and left I stayed on the field for a while. Later, I walked home. To my surprise, mom was there. It's not like I will talk with her. Honestly, I want to be alone. Ashley took all my energy. How can one girl be so annoying? I didn't do anything to her. She is the one acting like a drama queen. I walked into my room and left frozen. You have to be kidding me. How is that possible? Ashley was sitting on my bed. Why is she here? I don't remember inviting her. My mom must have let her in. Please remind me to kill her. - What are you doing here? - Since you don't want to talk with me in school, you will do it here. - Go away. - Avery, please. What did I do? - What did you not do? - I don't understand. I already apologized for the morning. - It's not only that. You are annoying and change your mood as if you change your clothes. - I said sorry. - And I don't care. - What do you want me to do except leave? - Nothing. I don't want to deal with you. If you forget, you quit. Leave my house. - Can you at least sit? - No. You can't tell me what to do. Ashley didn't say anything. Instead, she got up and hugged me. What the heck is wrong with her? I pulled away and walked to the window. She made me angry. Let's hope that I won't do anything stupid. I can throw her through the window, but that is too much. It's not like she knows it. Maybe I can use this against her. I hope she is scared of heights. Well, our house isn't tall. Soon, she came up to me. That is perfect. I grabbed her hand and made her face the ground. - W- what are you doing? - If you don't go away, I will make you jump through the window. - What? You can't do that. - Yes, I can. It's my house and my rules. - I didn't do anything to you. - Leave my house! - Why do you hate me so much? - she asked and looked at me - You already know. - No, I don't. - Yes, you do. Please, don't play the I am innocent game. No one will believe you. - I wanted to help you. - I don't need your help. Please, leave me alone. - Arguing with you is not something I like. - The problem is not mime. - Do you want me to quit? - I thought you already did it. - Give me one more chance. - What I will give you will be a push if you don't leave soon. - What is wrong with you? I am trying to be nice, but all you want is to get rid of me. I don't remember doing anything to you. Why do you treat people like that? You know you can hurt their feelings. It's not like you care. Somehow, your ego is too big. I don't even know why I keep trying. I thought you could change, but no. You will always be the same person, an ungrateful one. I hope your football career will fail. - What did you say? - What you heard. I am leaving. - Take your words back. - No, I won't. You deserve it. - I hope you will fail PE class and that no university in New York will accept you. - Do you mean it? - she asked with tears in her eyes - Yes, I do. Now leave. - I will. - Finally. - But you have to know that hurting people won't help you. One day, you will end up alone. - So what? Maybe I want it. - It's your choice. - Ashley said and left I don't know what happened, but I didn't mean to say that. Well, I told Ashley the opposite so she could leave. I want her to go to New York. That is her dream. Arguing with her is not something I like, but I keep doing it. It's not her fault that I treat people like that. She isn't wrong that one day, I might end up alone. That is not something I want. I have to fix things with her, but it will be hard. I keep hurting her, and I don't even know why I do it. She helped me a lot. Ashley deserves to be around better people. Maybe it's better that she quit. That way, she will be happier. I hope that without her, I can pass my next test.
