Shopping with Chase was... Okay. He didn't flirt with me or made any unfunny, bothering comments. At the mall, I used my reliable and fantastic fashion sense and picked an eye–turning attire for him which consisted of dark navy blue slacks, That was two weeks ago. In those two weeks a lot of things happened. Firstly, my darling, baby car was back. Now she was shining in her royal blue glory. Secondly, pops went to stay with her second son, in another town. Now, I'll be alone at home when my parents are on work. And thirdly, homecoming dance, which I undoubtedly didn't attend. Homecoming dance and basketball match covered up another three major events. 1. A boy approached me to ask for a dance as a date. When I simply rejected, he became persistent and awoke my sleeping fist. And unfortunate for him, Bree wasn't there to play savior. That was the first f*****g hit at this school. 2. Ashton asked Bree for dance. I mean, f**k! And on top of his audacity Bree agreed. Double f**k! That was so uncalled for. Bree was always so opposed to that fucker and I never thought that my best friend would go with someone like him, even for a single night. 3. Chase had a fight with a guy from the opposing team. I got to know a day before the match that he was on the team. He was the captain. And the fight was all hitting, punching, pushing and tackling. Thank f**k it was just outside the school property, otherwise he would have been in trouble. I used to think that Chase was a goody–two–shoes, the nice guy. But, apparently, he could be a kick-ass when he wants. I literally clapped and whistled for him when I heard about it. Man, I was impressed form his badass–ness. I still remember his red cheeks, when I did that. Past two weeks, I mixed well with the group. It was now easy to let go and speak my mouth without the fear of offending anyone. I got to know more about the boys. Chase was smart. Passing his class with a kick–ass GPA, basketball star, popular in school, an easy going nature on top of that. He was practically a f*****g golden boy of the school. Matt was more of a chill guy. Studying only much as he needs and a sucker for parties. Ashton was a fuckboy. Ah, wouldn't have imagined. That reminds me again, that something must be going on between him and Bree. Recently Ashton has been a little down the notch form his usual annoying self and I think Bree had something that she hasn't told me. I asked her, but she said there's nothing about it. But I know her, she was smiling. A lot. And I know she was lying. But I'll wait for her to tell me herself when she's ready. I know she will, eventually. I slammed my locker shut after drawing my emergency stash cookies out. Finally. Well, it wasn't any emergency I was Just craving it. I was making my way towards the cafeteria when someone called my name from behind. And that someone, unfortunately, was Ashton. "Hey, Fiona." "Hi." "So, how was class?" He asked. "You're acting extra nice." I observed, my eyes squinting at his face. "Just tell me what do you want, Ashton." I said. His mouth opened to retort before I stopped him. "And I swear, if you make any innuendoes, you might want to save your dick." He laughed at that. "I wasn't going to say anything like that. I just... " He paused. His eyes darting everywhere in hesitation. "Hurry the f**k up. I don't want to keep my food waiting." I scolded. "Okay." He rubbed his hands over his face. Maybe to rejuvenate his confidence. "I wanted to ask you something. About," Another pause. I turned to leave him but he stop my movement from gripping my elbows and turned me back. " Who said you can touch me, you jackass." I scrunched up my nose in distaste. "Sorry, I'm sorry. Just hear me out, okay?" "Then just f*****g spit it out, okay?" I snapped. "Can you tell Bree to talk to me?" He asked. My eyebrows rose on its own accord. "Why would I do that? And what do you want to talk with her? And why ask me to do that? Just go speak with her if you really need to." My face was contorted in utter confusion. "I asked you because you're her best friend. I want to talk her about the homecoming dance and I had to ask you, because bea's ignoring me. I think." He shrugged. "What happened on homecoming? Oh god!" Horrification smothered me. "Don't tell me you two had s*x!" I whispered the last word. "What? No!" He laughed. "No, we didn't have s*x. Although, I definitely would have if she was to agree," He totally ingnored my pointed glare. "Actually we were dancing an–" "No, no, no! I don't want to hear it. Save that. If bree wants me to know, she will tell me herself." I objected, checking my phone for the time. Fuck. I'm getting late for lunch. "Yeah? You were just assuming that we had s*x. What if it was true?" He challenged, his eyes dancing in the florescent light. "There is a difference between assuming and being told. Now, clear the way. Lunch is waiting." I pushed him aside, going for my destination. "Alright, I'm not stopping you, just tell me that you will tell her to speak with me." He said falling in step with me. "Did nobody teach you manners, Jettison? Where's the f*****g please?" I sassed, side-eying him. "Pleeeaassee, Fiona?" He pouted with hilarious wide eyes. I almost laughed out. "I don't know whatever s**t conspired between you two, but I'm not gonna interfere in it. And I'm definitely not playing Cupid. Not for you. So, no. Go find someone else." I waved him off as I entered the cafeteria and noticed our group. I sat on an empty seat beside Chase and Bree passed me my tray. She had already brought my lunch from the counter. Jesus, bless that girl. "I thought you wanted to behead Jettison?" Matt raised his eyebrow at me from across the table. I shrugged. "We don't always get what we want. I don't think Ashton's head is worth going to jail." Everyone chuckled at the table but I didn't miss the look Chase was giving me across the table. Ashton sat on the other side of me–giving me mild anxiety–but uncharacteristically said nothing for the whole lunch. "So, who want cookies?" I offered the container begrudgingly but accepted the fate. Having a big group friends means sharing in large portions, which means you'll only get a little piece. Sacrifice is the second name of friendship. Matt was the first one to lunge on the table. "Treat them like a gentleman you, oaf." Mia chastised him as she looked longingly at my cookies. If she isn't stuffing her mouth without any pursuance, I've learnt not to pursuade her. Bree reached for a cookie the same time as Ashton and they both looked away and retreated. And the whole group saw that. I nodded absent mindedly. Something is going on between them. And I will have to find sooner rather than later. Someone hand me my black aviators. Detective Fiona is entering the scene.
