We both were frozen in each other's embrace, our minds racing thinking of what the f**k to do.
He leant in towards my ear and softly whispered. "I'll go with him. Stay here for two minutes and then follow us, alright?" I nodded.
It was applaudable how he just knew that I didn't want to be seen with him in this rather compromising position or raise suspicion as to what Fiona and Chase were doing all alone in the basketball court, clinging like a spider to a damn wall.
He quickly laid a soft kiss on my lips, making me slightly shudder, then left me there to run to the doors. "Don't be nervous." He whispered against my lips and then ran. " Yo, Matt! Let me pick my duffle."
"Hey, where did you just pop up from? And where's Fiona? She came here, right?" I could smell the suspicion coming off of him in heaps
Chase didn't even stutter when he lied. "I was in the shower. And she just went back. I think she went to use the bathroom." He shrugged, subtly looking sideways at me and winked. My stomach…
"Yeah? Let's go then. And I especially don't want to be seen here by the coach. I love my balls."
Chase slinged his bag over his shoulder and went out the door, dragging Matt with him. I let out the breath I was holding in.
The s**t was close to a minor heart attack.
My thoughts drifted to what had just happened to shove previous life keeping organ in this endangering situation.
I kissed Chase. Again.
And this time with this fluttering feeling in my stomach, there is no dread. I felt giddy all over as a laugh bubbled up from my lips and I slammed my mouth shut with my hands, afraid that both the guys were still in hearing distance.
Fuck, the feeling of his gentle yet impatient touches on my body…I was going to explode.
I don't know if I had felt anything like this the last time we did this but if I did, then no surprise I fell asleep in his arms after doing it.
There was a skip in my steps as I strolled down the hallways with a permanent smile slapped on my face. I schooled my expression, as to hide my sudden overjoy from Matt or even Chase, I don't know.
They were standing there, chatting, when I reached them. "Ready, guys?" I called as I unlocked my car, a small smile escaping.
"Yeah, let's go." Matt answered and opened the back door but Chase didn't even look my way instead rushed to the other side of the car and slammed the door shut behind him.
Okay…
The whole ride I tried to catch his eyes through the mirror between the stupid banter Matt and I was having—about whether pizza was more delicious than burgers—but everytime our eyes met he looked away. Blushing at that.
And I didn't know if it was because he was shy now or embarrassed. And my conscience persuaded me that it was the latter. Not that it was a hard job.
I mean, seriously dude? Is it gonna be you this time to act like a b***h after we kissed? Better shouldn't have kissed me if it was that much of a bother to you.
Bipolar asshole.
Yeah, I know I'm being a hypocrite b***h but I was entitled to my behavior because I am Fiona. And he was Chase; he was supposed to be the good boy that just knew how to not make people upset, how to keep them happy.
Up until this moment, he had perfectly maintained it but now…
Fuck it. f**k him. f**k his handsome face and f**k his perfect lips because I don't need it.
I dropped Matt first because his home came first and struggled to keep my groans in. Now we were both alone in this car, no one else there anymore to keep the awkward silence somehow away.
I purposefully blasted my music on and bobbed my head up and down not looking back at him anymore. I think I even heard him clearing his throat and calling me but he didn't know I was as stubborn as a f*****g chewing gum stuck in the hair.
I silently drove to his house—and finally and begrudgingly spoke to him, "We're here." Not quite sure if he heard me.
I heard the door on his side open and shut, too. And then… he came to the passenger seat and plopped himself in, turning the music off.
YouI still didn't look at him, just tapped my nails against the steering wheel.
"Fiona…"
Silence.
"Fiona, look at me, please… Fiona…are you ignoring me?"
That did it.
"Are you seriously f*****g kidding me?! You're the one who's been f*****g ignoring me after we parted from that damned court. You didn't even f*****g look at me! And you're asking me that?!"
To say he was stunned was too plain of a statement.
"I…I wasn't ignoring you." I let out a humorless chuckle. "No, seriously. I mean, I wasn't sure how you were gonna react this time. I just didn't want to make a fool of myself by acting like we suddenly have this new development between us. Again."
My temper deflated. He wasn't at fault. I was. He was scared to act as he usually would because of our past. But I didn't want him to be. And I'll do anything to make sure that he is not restraining himself because of my previous actions. Anything means, even apologise.
I seem to do that often with him, anyway.
"I'm sorry." I exhaled. "I'm sorry for acting like an insensitive b***h last time but I swear, this time it's nothing like that." I don't know when it happened but I sounded like a desperate, clingy and needy type of girl.
Made me internally gag.
But it isn't that bad, though. Because he sighed in relief.
He raked his hand through his hair and chuckled lightly. I was torn between what action I should focus on first. "You mean…we're alright?" He asked. His blue eyes shining.
A subconscious smile lifted my lips after seeing his smile. f**k, I love his smile.
"Yeah, we are."
"So, can I…kiss you?" How can I f*****g deny that?
I pursed my lips, let the seatbelt fling back and crawled over—second guessing my decision— to his lap. He stilled for a few seconds, eyes dilating in front of me, but then his hands came up to my waist.
I captured the back of his neck and slowly let my mouth crash with his. And all of a sudden, it was too hot in the car.
The kiss was just deepening when the ominous ring of my cell filled the car.we pulled away with a start and I snatched the bloody thing from the dashboard without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?" I responded, slightly breathless.
"Fy, where are you?!" It was Bree. "There's an emergency. Like a massive one! Like my calculus textbook!"
"Yeah? And what's that?" I had a habit of making various facial expressions while on the phone and Chase was staring with a great focus on it.
I was tempted to look away but, as cheesy as f**k it sounds, I didn't want to not look at his face.
"I can't tell you on the phone. I'm coming over, okay? I'm on my way! Bye." A beep continued several times before silence. I sighed.
"I need to go." I sighed, going back to my seat and clicking the seatbelt back into place.
"Okay. See you at school, then." He smiled and got out of the car. I watched as he rounded the car and started to walk towards his front door when I realised something.
"Hey, Chase?"
"Yeah?"
"Can you please not tell anyone about this? I'm not ready yet. I want to see how it goes between us until then, please keep it a secret?"
There was no disapproval on his face as I thought it would be. Instead, he had a teasing smile as he came to my window and leant his elbows on its sill, getting close to my face.
"Fiona Rosa Marriott, am I your dirty little secret?" He winked.
I gasped. "How the f**k you know my middle name?"
"That's a secret, too." He chuckled and pecked my cheek.
As I rode the rest of the way to home where my best friend waited on me for a supposed emergency, I laughed like an i***t thinking about my dirty little secret.
