Ryan told us that he was going to stay. Like, live with us from now on. According to him, he didn't like to be a loner in the town he was living in with his parents. Although, people definitely were swarming him from all the angles, considering his so called 'looks' and his sportsmanship in basketball.
He tried to persuade his mom and dad to let him come back here but they wanted him to live with them. He even ditched basketball for it.
And then came Pops skipping and hopping in his life, teaching him a couple of scandalous tricks to get him kicked out of the school and the rest was history.
It was the time for Halloween and Chase had followed me to the library, effectively disrupting any chance of me actually studying for my test.
The way he had ditched his jacket, leaving only his thin white uniform shirt on—that too with a couple of buttons left undone at the top—was enough to lure me in his trap.
Not that I wouldn't have fallen if he hadn't done that.
He convinced me to go the Halloween party at some senior's place.
I was still apprehensive because of the expected environment there was bound to be but if he was going to give me company all night like last time I was at a party, I could not complain.
Either way, I was gonna stick with him. Bree would, of course, need some privacy with his boyfriend at this party like a typical teenager and we all already knew to kiss the twins goodbye once they entered a party place.
They were what I would call a party animal.
The only one left was Ryan and usually he would pester me with his presence even if I punch him the stomach for it but this time, it's different.
I've noticed the way he keeps peeking at Mia out of the corner of his eyes and follows her basically everywhere except the washroom. And Mia is not so inactive in this affair, either.
I've caught her passing flirty glances, too.
There was definitely something about to happen between them.
And it isn't like I won't like a good excuse to spend time with Chase without any hindrance.
Either way, I needed to get him alone with me for the thing I've planned for tonight.
And for that thing alone, I had to seduce the answer out of him for what he was going as. I've never dressed up on Halloween since I was twelve but this year, I was gonna do it.
For him.
Man…the things I would do for his cute and hot ass.

I smacked my lips together to even my lipstick one last time, looking at my reflection in the car's mirror.
"He's really that special, huh?" Ry asked, munching on a chocolate bar in the driver's seat, his hat casting a shadow in his eyes.
"I really don't know what you're talking about." I replied, looking up at him.
"I am talking about Chase." He slowly and carefully spoke. "You're doing this for him right? This party, this dress up…I never thought you'd be found dead in something like that." He commented, gesturing to my dress. "Tell me, do you like really like him that much?"
I sighed pinching my nose, cautious of the make-up. "I'm sorry in advance if I'm found in the bottom of the ocean after admitting this but…yeah. I like him but not that very serious kind, you know." I exhaled before adding. "Yet. It scares me how I think it will develop into something more but maybe it will be worth it in the end. Honestly, I want it to be."
It took more that just some metaphorical balls for saying the words out loud but it was a bit—only slightly— easier because it was Ry.
He and I always had that kind of relationship. When I was at the rock bottom, he was the only one able to make me smile, make me share an ounce of my emotions so it was more easy to confide in him and seek his opinion on the matter.
He was not just a cousin, he was like my own brother.
And I was grateful for his more than sometimes annoying ass.
I entered the party and took in the crowd drowning in various costumes and colorful lights.
Ry came jogging behind me and clutched ny hand. I raised my eyebrow at him in question but he only flashed me a cheeky smile and started pushing through crowd tugging me safely behind him.
Pushing past a group of kids who were dressed as the whole Mickey mouse clubhouse, we tried to find our way to where the kitchen was supposed to be.
We had agreed to meet there.
The first one who caught my eye was my best friend. She was looking too cute for the sanity of her boyfriend, dressed as Tinkerbell.
Ashton had his arms wrapped around her as he lifted the other to gesture at me to come over.
He was in a suit what looked like to be Venom.
Ry and I made our way over to them. I stood with Bree and Ry went to do the hand shake s***h side hug thing with Ashton.
I eyed the plastic cup in Bree's hand when my throat felt a little dry. "Hey, where are the drinks?" I asked.
"In my hands." Came the answers from the side and Mia came balancing three cups in her hands.
"Thanks." I said as I accepted one cup. "What are you?" I wondered, doing a once over to her blue dress with black lace on the sleeves and the hem and yellow heels.
"I'm Dory. Duh."
"I suddenly don't like Dory 'cause I'm not currently matching." My cousin pouted, looking down at his Andy costume from 'Toy story'.
"I'm Nemo, if you can't tell." Informed Matt, entering the kitchen through the crowd with a huge bag of chips in hand, munching loudly on them.
"Ah, thank you. I definitely needed it." I mumbled and Ry hummed in agreement. The only way he resembled Nemo was his bright orange t-shirt, white pants and neon orange shoes.
Close.
"Well, what are you supposed to be?" Mia nudged me, sipping on her drink.
"Rapunzel." Was my short reply as a secretive smile danced on my lips.
I had found this purple dress online. It had pink front side with crisscross strings design and purple puffed out sleeves. Its hem ended mid-thigh with a thin sheer pink lace.
Complementing the whole look were little flowers in my braid.
Mia's eyes and smile turned wicked. "I think I saw a Flynn Rider, too." She pretended to look something in the throng of people. "Ah, there he comes."
My eyes automatically turned towards the direction she pointed and there I saw him making his way over, his eyes pinned only on me.
"Hey," he said as he stopped directly in front of me. "We match." His grin was so joyful he looked like a kid in a candy store.
A chuckle escaped me. "We do." I said as I tossed him a wink.
Mia cleared her throat beside me and whistled. "Is that a guy fairy godmother? I need to make a wish guys." She squeezed our shoulders consecutively, leaving the scene.
Ry—not so discreetly—side stepped us and trailed after Mia, whistling to himself.
No doubt, I got something to tease him later about.
"So," Chase nudged me to gain my attention. "Rapunzel, huh?" His eyes danced once more over my body like he couldn't help himself.
"Yeah. I wanted us to match." I said and saw his eyes broaden, maybe from my bluntness.
I wanted him to know that me being dressed like this was not only for dressing up purposes. I meant it to make him understand that I wanted everyone else to know that he and I were actually a couple now.
It was as close to confessing my feelings as I could come. I can leave telling everyone else to Chase, though.
Chase tried to laugh to hide his slightly red cheeks from me. "Where's your pan though, Rapunzel?" He teased.
"Well, I was actually going to borrow it from my kitchen but then I thought I wouldn't need it considering you'd be my Flynn Rider." I explained sweetly.
And the way he softly smiled back, it seemed like my intentions were crystal clear to him now.
