CHAPTER 9Bruce groaned in his inner torment. He was hardly aware of being flown in a jet-squad car to central police headquarters. He was marched down a stone-walled hallway into a cell. The steel door clanged shut behind him. Bruce’s world had temporarily ended. Was there any way out of his trap? He sat alone for several hours, twisting his hands and pacing his cell. Finally, the door scraped open and the jailer motioned him out. Waiting was a military guard, four uniformed men who flanked him as he was marched down the hall to a courtroom.
