Xerxes opened the car door for her. "Ms. Gray, you don't need to thank me. Mr. Reed assigned me to you. It's my job. Whether it's your ex-husband or anyone else—if they threaten your safety, I'll handle it."
Hearing that, Seraphina felt a little more at ease.
