7 Return Blue Sands was split into two parts. Upper Blue Sands was a little village a mile from the beach, set back from the hill’s crest in a flat hollow surrounding a church, apparently because a long, long time ago that would have made it hidden from Vikings cruising up and down the coast. Blue Sands Cove, on the other hand, was the name given to the cluster of houses and businesses catering to tourists which surrounded the beach itself, a flat stretch of golden sand with a paved promenade a quarter of a mile long.
