35 Competition The car parks were full, the beach packed. With a bright sun shining overhead, the lightest of breezes, and beautiful rollers slicing the sea into neat curls—the result of some overnight Atlantic storm—hundreds of people had come for the gala. All along the promenade, shops, cafes and pubs had set up little stalls for the customers milling about.
