Chapter Four
She thought that the next day she would make another request, since the first one had been so readily granted. She felt dirty. She could smell her own body odours. Her hair was greasy. She badly needed a wash. Surely he would prefer her smelling sweet? But what could she offer in return? She had already committed to conversation. What else had she that he might wish for? Perhaps she would ask him, being careful not to commit to anything in advance. And it would have to be something commensurate.
She spent a restless night. Sleeping was hard when she had done nothing all day. She decided she would have to start some exercise regime to keep herself from physical deterioration. But some fresh air would also be desirable. That was another demand she would put to him shortly. She
