Chapter 20: Who Are You?

As Ethan turned to leave, Aurora felt a surge of determination. She was going to get to the bottom of this, no matter what.

"Wait," she said, her voice firm. "You're not going anywhere until you tell us what's going on."

Ethan's eyes locked onto hers, and for a moment, Aurora saw a flash of the man she once knew. But then, his expression hardened, and he smiled.

"You really want to know?" he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Fine. I'll tell you. But you won't like it."

Aurora's heart was racing as Ethan began to speak. "I'm working with a organization that's been hiding in plain sight," he said. "They've been manipulating events from behind the scenes, and I'm a part of it."

Aurora's eyes widened in shock. "What kind of organization?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ethan's eyes locked onto hers, and he smiled. "You'll find out soon enough. But for now, let's just say that you're in grave danger."

Suddenly, Max stepped forward, his eyes locked onto Ethan's. "I think it's time we took control of this situation," Max said, his voice low and menacing.

Ethan's eyes flickered, and for a moment, Aurora saw a flash of fear. But then, his expression hardened, and he smiled.

"You'll never stop them," Ethan said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "They're too powerful, too well-connected. You're just pawns in their game."

As Ethan turned to leave, Aurora felt a surge of determination. She was going to take down this organization, no matter what it took.

But just as she was about to follow Ethan, Max grabbed her arm. "Wait," he whispered. "I think I know what's going on. And I think I know how to stop them."

Aurora's eyes locked onto Max's, and she saw a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could still win this game.

But as she looked into Max's eyes, she saw something that made her blood run cold. A glimmer of recognition, a hint of a secret.

"Who are you, Max?" Aurora asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Max's eyes locked onto hers, and he smiled. "I'm someone who's been playing both sides all along," he said, his voice low and menacing.

Aurora's eyes widened in shock as she realized the truth. Max was working with the organization. And she was trapped.
