Casual Talk

"Okay, okay. There are simply too many emotions swirling around at this very moment. Let's prepare some food for you," Ona interjected briskly as I distanced myself from Precious. "Off you go now, make your way to the living room, my dear. There's quite a lot for you to catch up on. I'll fill you in on all the details later, but for now, let's just say... Things have taken an intriguing turn." *** Deep in her own contemplations, Camilla settled down on the sofa, toying with the drink Ona had handed her from the kitchen while playfully cautioning her about picking up food randomly. "She was so endearing. It has been quite some time since I last saw them. I'm relieved to learn that they're all safe and well." As she kicked back, almost reaching a state of relaxation, the echo of a door slamming within the mansion abruptly pulled her back to reality. "Tsk, which new maid is causing a ruckus with the doors? Al wouldn't be pleased with such behavior-" Her words were abruptly cut off by the unexpected appearance of an elderly woman with striking silver hair, bearing a striking resemblance to Alessio, but as an older version. The resemblance was so uncanny, it was unsettling. "Grandma Glyndon?!" she exclaimed, leaping from her seat and rushing to embrace the bewildered elderly woman. Who stood there. Stunned and rooted to the spot. “You annoying little--!” Camilla burst into laughter as she held Mrs Glyndon in her arms. To the bewilderment of Olivia who's alarm bells had begun to go off. “What are you doing here child?! Did Al force you back?” “First off, please have a seat. It's nice to see you again Grandma and hi Renée. It's been ages since I last saw you.” “Two years of you being gone to be gone and Alessio being happy to be precise. Tch.” Renée cut in. Her obvious dislike for Camilla oozing from her voice. “Same here too but, here we are babes. Have a seat. What brings you both here?” “Well, well, Alessio's fiancé here, Olivia, came to complain about some 'woman' that Al brought home.” All attention turned to Olivia as she clenched her wrists until they bled, boiling with fury. However, she managed to keep calm and smile. “Yes, I was quite bothered. Can you blame me? It all seemed strange to me.” “Oh. I’m so sorry about all this. I didn't want Al to tell anyone until--” “Momma?” a tiny voice interrupted, and everyone suddenly turned towards Aiden, who was sleepily rubbing his eyes and walking towards his mother. “Mom, I can't shweep. I had a bad dream.” Camilla immediately left Glyndon's side and picked up Aiden, rocking him gently. “My God. He looks so much like Alessio,” Glyndon whispered, clearly shocked, as Renée too stared at Aiden, taken aback by the resemblance. She stepped closer to him, staring at Aiden, who in turn tilted his head and smiled. “Hewoo... auntie.” She blinked in surprise and was at a loss, but Camilla tapped her shoulder, and she quickly regained her composure. “Why did you call me that?” “Mmm. Isn't that your name? Ywou look like just like daddy and me!” “Pfft. So you knew immediately that I'm your auntie, huh? You cute little thing. What's your name?” “Aiden, ma'am.” “Wow! That's so cute!” Renée gasped as Aiden flashed her a toothy smile. Camilla let out a sigh of relief and walked towards Glyndon with Aiden in her arms. “Mother, this is Aiden. Aiden, this is grandma. Come down and say hello to her.” Aiden came down from his mother's arms and stood before Glyndon with a small smile as he greeted her. “Hello, gwanma. It's great to see you!” Glyndon snapped out of her daze, tears glistening in her eyes as she picked him up and placed him in her lap. “It's good to see you too, Aiden. How are you?” “I'm fine, thank you!” Glyndon grinned from ear to ear, immediately taken with the child, and began playing with him. Camilla excused herself and went into the kitchen, with Olivia following right behind her. Slamming the door shut with a resounding thud, she turned abruptly and drove Camilla against the kitchen island, securing her in a tight chokehold around her neck. The shocked servants in the kitchen watched in horror as Camilla became the target of Olivia's wrath, a situation they were unfortunately all too familiar with. “What in the world do you think you're doing?” “Even now, you still aren't afraid of me? Do you believe I lack the capability to end you? Or that bastard in the living room everyone seems to adore? How dare you even think--” Camilla's expression grew visibly darker at the mention of the word 'bastard,' yet Olivia continued her tirade until Camilla's suddenly gripped on her wrist and it intensified, producing a sickening popping sound. Olivia screamed in pain and shot a piercing glare at her assailant. “You may do as you please with me. Speak your mind freely. But if you dare to insult my son or trample over my innocent child, merely to appease your own anger? Oh honey, you will face consequences far beyond what you can imagine. So what if Al wants his son's presence here? How many times must I repeat myself?! I have no intentions of falling in love with that man, and rest assured, when you have children, they may inherit his ill-fated and dirty empire. I would sooner perish than allow my son to delve into Alessio's disgusting affairs. My child shall never succumb to such a fate. Temper your anger, Olivia Dante, and steer clear of my son, or face the damn consequences.” “And if I don't?” Olivia retorted through gritted teeth, writhing in agony. “If not, I will dismantle you with my own two hands. I may be deemed insignificant by some, but never forget, I was once wed to Alessio, and sweetheart, feel free to review the headlines. I was a damn headliner and a prominent figure that shook the social world daily. Trust me, you do not want to challenge that. All it takes is a few f*****g words and you are done for. Never. Forget. That. Ever.” Camilla's countenance swiftly transformed, offering a disarming smile to Olivia, as though their interaction were as casual as discussing the day's weather.
