The first c***k between worlds opened without a sound. That frightened Lara more than thunder would have. Above the crystal dome, the darkness split. A thin wound appeared in the air itself, jagged and black at its centre, edged with silver fire. For one impossible heartbeat, Lara could see through it. Not the cavern ceiling. Not the mountain.
