Rain drummed steadily against the windows of Blackwood Enterprises. Not the gentle rain from earlier in the week. This was heavier. Restless. Dark clouds pressed low over the city, swallowing the mountains in the distance and turning afternoon into something closer to dusk. I stared at the spreadsheet glowing on my computer screen. Numbers. Columns. Quarterly projections. Normally, this was easy. Today, the numbers refused to stay in focus. The black SUV. The hooded stranger. The photograph. My dream. Richard's warning.
