Chapter 7

Seth Albertine's Point Of View

The princess looked so happy when she layed down. Honestly Seth felt bad bothering her. But they had come for a reason. Whether he liked it or not, their brother needed them.

So for Gabriel he put aside his thoughts that this was just plain wrong. He looked from the princess to Elijah who nodded. It was time to get this all over with. However he did make himself a silent promise, no matter what he wouldn't let any harm come to the girl.

Elijah not waiting for Seth to finish his thoughts silently went across the room to the bed. Standing behind the girl he silently put his hand over her mouth. Seth came around the end of the bed just in time to see her eyes grow large in surprise and fear. He felt bad for her, knowing that this had to be frightening.

When she looked at Elijah he put a finger to his lips. She nodded getting the idea as she turned towards Seth. She startled a little noticing him standing there. Elijah told her "We need you to come with us. Once we can talk we will explain everything."

As she was standing with Elijah, Seth took it upon himself to open the portal back home. It really surprised the girl, since her eyes grew even larger than before. She looked to Seth for reassurance.

Smiling kindly at her for reassurance, he offered her his hand. She slowly made up her mind, but quickly grabbed it. Elijah winked at her and jumped through the portal.

Seth and the girl stepped up to the portal. He glanced her way to see how she was doing. She looked scared out of her wits about the portal. When she looked at Seth, he took her other hand in his hands as well.

Looking her in the eyes he told her."I understand

that this is probably terrifying. This portal is the only way to get us back home. When we come out we will be in our palace. I promise you that no harm will come to you, I won't let it. You may not trust me, but I've never gone back on a promise."

The girl took a deep breath and nodded to him, that she was with him. He slowly let go of her one hand. Taking the other, they went through the portal together.

They came out of the portal in the same spot theu had entered originally. Nothing had changed in the library, except for Elijah sitting in an arm chair. He paitently waited for them to arrive and join him.

Seth still holding the girl's hand slowly made his way to the couch opposite Elijah. He offered her a seat which she gladly accepted. Then he made himself comfortable next to her on the couch. She looked to be calm for the most part, but not completely sure about that. She waited paitently and expectedly, waiting for one of them to start speaking.

Swallowing his pride, he decided best to be up front with her. This way she wasn't in the dark or confused. He turned toward her as he started to speak." Hello my name is Seth and the knucklehead over there," he said pointing his head at his brother, "is Elijah my brother."

Slowly the young lady seemed to come out of the shock of everything that had recently happened. "My name is Cleeanna, where am I? Why am I here? Are you going to hurt me, what do you want with me?"

"Alright let's start at the top. It's a pleasure to meet you Cleeanna, sorry I happened in this very unconventional way. I'm going to try to answer all your questions, I hope that I don't miss one as you had quite a few," he said as he winked at her.

"First of all you are in our home, the palace of Ostentation. We are in another dimension from the one you live in, which is why portal travel. I'm going to answer if we will hurt you, most certainly not. I promise you that for the duration of your stay I personally will not allow any harm to befall you.

"You skipped the why am I here question," she said looking directly at Seth.

"Pardon me for that, the answer to that is bigger so I decided to answer that one last."

Elijah starting to get impatient with the entire ordeal jumps in to answer. "We need a royal to fall in love with our brother to save his life, and coincidentally we are running out of time."

Cleeanna looked from Seth to Elijah like they had completly lost their minds. Then she burst into a fit of laughter. As her laughter subsided she said, "you can't actually expect me to believe such a thing. Just tell me how much ransom you want, I'm sure my folks will cooperate.

Shaking his head, Seth silently asked her to believe them. He took a long deep breath and rubbed his temples. Finally he decided that maybe the entire story would be what she needed to convince her they weren't lying.

"OK, alright I'll slow it down, start at the beginning and catch you up. First thing, do you know what a shifter is?"

"What like in a story, where people shift into wolves?"

"Exactly like that, only a little bit different. Elijah will you do the honors," Seth said nodding at his brother.

"Are you serious, right now?"

"We need to show her, to help her see that we aren't making up a story."

"I suppose if I have to," said Elijah getting up to go stand in front of Cleeanna. Slowly she watched the man in front of her change into a very handsome peacock. Then back into the man who had been standing before her.

"Wha, what was that?," Cleeanna asked when she was able to speak again.

Seth took the opportunity to jump right into an explanation for her. "Cleeanna we are shifters. As Elijah just showed you, our form is peacocks. It's not a trick. just honest shape shifters. It runs in our family on our father's side."

Cleeanna calmly looked at Seth and asked, "you're serious? Shape shifters actually exist?"

"Yes very serious, and yes we do. It passes to the men in our family only."

"OK. so what does this have to do with me?"

"I'm so glad that you asked that. In our family we start shifting at the age of 16 years. Then we are to find love by the time we are 25 years old. If we don't then we shift for the last time at midnight on our 25fh birthday to a peacock permanently. However there is a little more to it. As we are royalty we must only marry other royalty. If we fall in love, but that person does not reciprocate the love back. It will actually kill us."

"Honestly, wow. That is definitely definitely lot to take in all at once."

"Yes it is, and I'm sorry for that," says Seth.

"So you want me to fall in love with one of you?"

"Gabriel our older brother. He turns 25 in a month's time. We however just learned about this last month ourselves." Elijah throws it all out there for her to grasp as she likes.

At that very moment Gabriel chooses to come running in the library. "Guys, finally I have found you. You will never guess the wonderful news." He comes up short as he notices Cleeanna. "What is going on here, who is this?" It takes him only a second before it all registered. "You guys didn't, did you?"

Seth and Elijah both start nodding at him. Letting him know that they did indeed kid nap the girl in front of him.
