Through small talk, Alan found out that the two sisters were caught because of a piece of candy. Some mercenaries entered the depths of the Misty Forest and accidentally discovered Betty who had snuck out to play. They lured her out with a piece of candy and caught her.
The older sister, Belinda, followed the tracks to find Betty and happened to see her younger sister getting caught. She wanted to save Betty but fell into the trap set by the mercenaries instead. As a result, both ended up being caught.
However, Belinda was not one to be messed with. Relying on her magic of nature, she managed to make those mercenaries suffer heavy casualties. By the time they made it out of the Misty Forest, there were only two of them left.
The badly weakened mercenaries dared not wander around with the two elven girls in tow. The northland near the borders was filled with chaos where killing, robbery, and strife were common. Afraid that they might be hijacked, the two remaining mercenaries decided to get the two hot potatoes off their hands as soon as possible by selling the two girls away at a at a cheap price to Keywell who happened to pass by with his caravan.
Regarding his identity, Alan simply told them that he was a bastard of some great nobleman, whereas this small and poor city was his fief and he had only just arrived here today.
Belinda and Betty looked refreshed after the meal, and their elegant and pure vibe shone through even stronger. Even Alan couldn’t help but exclaim in his heart that they were indeed the finest masterpieces of the Creator.
“Where does your tribe live?” Alan asked as he wiped his mouth with a napkin.
Belinda looked at him agitatedly. “Are you sending us back?”
She was sure that the people of her tribe, especially her mother, must have gone crazy with anxiety since they have been missing for such a long time.
“If you are willing to stay in my castle for a few more days, I might consider sending you back,” Alan smiled. Although he wanted to make them stay, he didn’t have the energy to deal with them since he had his hands full with a bunch of things waiting for him to handle.
Belinda and Betty were away from their tribe for a long time and were eager to go back. Alan could clearly see the desire for home in Belinda’s eyes.
He could always make them stay by force, but Alan knew that he would lose their friendship and be left with only resentment and two soulless bodies in return.
“You can just bring us to the Golden Waterfall,” Belinda forced a smile as she shook her head and refused Alan’s invitation.
Now, she finally began to develop some affections for this polite young nobleman.
However, she was not that carried away to reveal the specific location of their tribe. Instead, she just told Alan an approximate position.
Ultimately, she kept her defenses up in dealing with humans.
“The Golden Waterfall?” Alan looked back at Gossen. He had never heard of this place before.
Goseen furrowed his eyebrows and asked solemnly, “The waterfall by the Cloud-reaching Mountain?”
Belinda nodded. “Yes. A very tall mountain stands next to the Golden Waterfall and its peak reaches into the clouds!”
“What’s wrong, Ser Gossen? Is it difficult to reach that place?” Alan didn’t know much about the Misty Forest and turned around to ask Gossen.
“Your Highness, that place is very close to the core area of the Misty Forest which is extremely perilous. A variety of powerful monsters live there, and it’s said that even divine monsters haunt that place,” Gossen explained.
Alan hesitated for a moment. He knew something about those monsters – Apart from all kinds of races such as humans, orcs, elves, dwarfs, and gnomes, there were countless monsters living on the Colum Continent.
However, monsters usually lived in deserted places such as the Mountains of Death and the Misty Forest.
Monsters were strong. They were split across the first to the ninth grade according to their strength, equivalent to first to ninth-grade human warriors or wizards with one to nine stars.
A first-grade monster was as powerful as a strong young man, and their strength grew stronger as their grades rose. A ninth-grade monster could play with a giant stone like a toy. Even the weakest ninth-grade monster could easily destroy a city. It would be a piece of cake for them to crush a big mountain.
Rumor had it that there were even more terrifying monsters beyond ninth-grade monsters – the divine monsters. They could fly and possessed terrible f*******n abilities strong enough to destroy a nation.
However, such divine monsters were so rare that over the last thousands of years, people only saw a few of them. As a result, the divine monsters, along with the divine human warriors and the divine witch, became a legend with time.
Although Alan had no idea how powerful Gossen was, he guessed that the latter was as strong as a seventh-grade warrior, judging from the fact that he was able to fearlessly fight a whole team of wolf knights head-on alone and emerged unscathed. Alan was sure that Gossen was extremely powerful.
“Ser Gossen, do you think you can get me and the two girls to the Golden Waterfall?” Alan asked in a low voice as he cast a discreet glance in Gossen’s direction.
Just then, Belinda stood up and offered, “I know how to get there. I can take us there!”
“You know the way?” Alan turned to look at Belinda in surprise. After all, they were blindfolded and knocked unconscious after they were captured in case they remembered the route and escaped or left clues along the way.
Belinda answered confidently, “As long as we return to the forest, we’ll be in the territory of the elven! I can steer you away from those dangerous places. The Misty Forest is our home. Trust me, we know more about the Misty Forest than anyone else.”
“I can give it a shot if this lady can lead the way,” Gossen said as he nodded.
“Great!” Alan exclaimed with joy.
“Thank you, Alan!” Belinda looked at Alan with gratitude. For the first time, she saw hope right before her eyes.
“Sister, are we going home?” Betty snuck another piece of dessert. With her mouth filled with food, she asked Belinda with excitement.
“Yeah, we can finally go home now. Mother is probably worried sick about us!” Instead of scolding Betty, which was rare, Belinda stroked Betty’s forehead gently.
However, little Betty did not appear as happy as Belinda had expected. On the contrary, she furrowed her delicate eyebrows and her eyes shifted as thoughts rushed through her mind.
At the sight of this, Belinda raised her eyebrows asking, “What? You don’t want to go back?”
“No, I couldn’t be happier.” Betty put on a look of excitement at once, which made Alan burst into laughter.
“It’s a little late today. Let’s set out tomorrow. Please bear with it and stay in my castle for one more night,” Alan proposed.
Belinda looked outside and nodded in agreement. On the other hand, little Betty’s face lit up as her eyes floated back to the dessert on the table.
Alan got up early the next morning.
However, Belinda was already up before he was. Little Betty was the only one with eyes still bleary with sleep as she yawned and followed behind Belinda. She was clearly pulled out of bed by Belinda.
“Good morning, ladies. I’m sure you haven’t tasted breakfast that humans eat, have you? Come and have a try.” Alan extended a warm invitation to Belinda and Betty.
